Round Mountain is located in northern Blanco County along U.S. Route 281. It is 12 miles (19 km) north of Johnson City, the county seat, and 11 miles (18 km) south of Marble Falls. Downtown Austin is 46 miles (74 km) to the east.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town of Round Mountain has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2), all land. [5]

As of the census [3] of 2000, there were 111 people, 41 households, and 33 families residing in the town. The population density was 48.3 inhabitants per square mile (18.6/km2). There were 46 housing units at an average density of 20.0 per square mile (7.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 87.39% White, 9.01% from other races, and 3.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.02% of the population.
There were 41 households, out of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.2% were married couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% were non-families. 17.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.06.
