Commonwealth Games appearances (overview)

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have competed at twelve Commonwealth Games, beginning in 1958. They attended every Games between 1966 and 1978, then did not participate again until 1994. They have competed in every Games since. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have won three Commonwealth medals, but only one since returning to the Games in 1994. [1]

The monarchy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign and head of state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The current Vincentian monarch and head of state, since 8 September 2022, is King Charles III. As sovereign, he is the personal embodiment of the Vincentian Crown. Although the person of the sovereign is equally shared with 14 other independent countries within the Commonwealth of Nations, each country's monarchy is separate and legally distinct. As a result, the current monarch is officially titled King of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and, in this capacity, he and other members of the royal family undertake public and private functions domestically and abroad as representatives of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. However, the King is the only member of the royal family with any constitutional role.

St Vincent & the Grenadines was represented at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, by a fifteen-member contingent comprising nine sportspersons and six officials. The country's competitors were four competitors in athletics, one squash player, and four table tennis players, while the officials were one "Chef de Mission", one team attaché, one doctor, one team manager, and two head coaches.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' appearance in Beijing marked its sixth consecutive Olympic appearance since its 1988 debut in Seoul, South Korea, and its smallest delegation to date. Alexander bore the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the opening ceremony and neither athlete medaled in their events or advanced to later rounds.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has competed at every edition of the Pan American Games since the eleventh edition of the multi-sport event in 1991. To date, all of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines's medals have been won in the sport of track and field. In 1995, Eswort Coombs won Saint Vincent and the Grenadines first medal, a bronze in the 400 metres track and field event. Kineke Alexander won the country's second medal, a bronze medal in the women's 400 metres in 2015. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines did not compete at the first and only Pan American Winter Games in 1990.

The ALBA Games are a multi-sport event organized by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA). The games are held once every two years. It was originally intended only for athletes of the ALBA member states but it has expanded to other countries in the Americas.

Kineke Alicia Alexander is a Vincentian sprinter who competed in the 400m event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the flag bearer for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2008 opening ceremony and the 2012 opening ceremony. She was also the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines flagbearer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines national netball team represent Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in international netball. As of July 2011, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are not ranked in the IFNA World Rankings, due to them not playing the required eight matches since July 2009. At the 2003 World Netball Championships in Jamaica, they finished 13th. At their most recent international competition they 11th at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
