The Sal Island or Regional Second Division is a tier-3 regional championship played in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. The tournament is organized by the Sal Regional Football Association. [1] The winner of the championship plays in Sal Premier Division in the following season. In the first season in 2015, the first two clubs were promoted into the Premier Division.
Sal is an island in Cape Verde. It belongs to the northern group of islands, called Barlavento ("windwards"), and comprises a single administrative division, the municipality of Sal. Its seat is the city of Espargos.
Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).
The Sal Regional Football Association is a football (soccer) association covering the island of Sal. It is headquartered in the city of Espargos, the island capital.
After six clubs including ASGUI, Chã de Matias, Florença, Gaviões, Jovens Unidos and Nova Geração became registered in 2014, the regional Second Division was introduced and after São Vicente, it would be the next league to have a second division in 2014.Sal was the most recent club to have a Second Division added in the 2014/15 season, each two divisions had 6 clubs each. In the following season, two clubs added to the premier division totalling eight and the second division clubs was reduced to four. The promotion/relegation system was introduced, the first placed second division club promotes in the following season and the last place club relegated into the second division the following season.
For the 2016-17 season, the number of clubs in the Second Division had risen to five with the addition of Pretória, a club based in the east of Espargos, that club did not appear in the cup and opening tournaments this season, one of the few clubs in the nation who spent their first season without appearing in the cup and opening tournament competitions. The season started late, before the end of the Premier Division and ended in late May.
Next season, the recent newcomer, Oásis Atlântico from the touristic section of Santa Maria, commonly as Dunas de Santa Maria. it became the second season with six clubs. Unlike Pretória, Oásis Atlântico did played in the regional cup for the 2017-18 season. The season started earlier and will finish in March or April.
As of 2018, Chã de Matias, Jovens Unidos, Nova Geração and Pretória are the clubs who appeared only in the division.

Sport Club Verdun is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Sal Island League in Cape Verde. The team is based in the village of Pedra de Lume in the east of the island of Sal, though they play in Espargos' stadium, the home field which is made up of dirt is rarely used for practices. Its current chairman is Alcindo Conceição Silva and its current manager is Domingo Gomes who replaced Djulhiano Santos which he now manages Juventude.
The 2014-15 Sal Island League season was the competition of the second-tier football in the island of Sal, Cape Verde. The schedule was made on October 25, 2014, it started on 10 January and finished on 19 April 2015. The tournament was organized by the Sal Regional Football Association. Académico do Aeroporto won their 12th title. All the matches were played in Estádio Marcelo Leitão except for clubs based in Santa Maria which played in its municipal stadium, in the following season, all clubs based in the south of the island played in that stadium. It was the first season that also featured a second division consisting of six new clubs. It was also the last season featuring six clubs in the Premier Division and for many years featuring ten matches each season.
