The Sarajevo Chamber Music Festival is an international multi-day chamber music festival which annually takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. [1] [2] It was established in 2011 by the Sarajevo Music Academy in cooperation with the Sarajevo Chamber Music Institute (SCMI) and the Manhattan String Quartet. [3] [4] The festival lasts for 6 days and hosts over 30 international ensembles, lecturers and composers per edition. [5] It is the largest chamber music festival in the Balkans. [6] [7]

Sarajevo Film Festival annual film festival held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Sarajevo Film Festival is the premier and largest film festival in Southeast Europe, and is one of the largest film festivals in Europe. It was founded in Sarajevo in 1995 during the siege of Sarajevo in the Bosnian Independence War, and brings international and local celebrities to Sarajevo every year. It is held in August and showcases an extensive variety of feature and short films from around the world. The current director of the festival is Mirsad Purivatra, former CEO of the Bosnian branch of McCann Erickson.

Robert Mann American musician, composer and conductor

Robert Nathaniel Mann was a violinist, composer, conductor, and founding member of the Juilliard String Quartet, as well as a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music. Mann, the first violinist at Juilliard, served on the school's string quartet for over fifty years until his retirement in 1997.

Martha Strongin Katz is a violist and member of the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) in Boston, Massachusetts, where she teaches viola and chamber music. She was a founding member of the Cleveland Quartet, along with her former husband, Paul Katz (cellist), and Peter Salaff and Donald Weilerstein (violinists). From 1969 until her departure from the group in 1980, she performed more than 1,000 concerts, including appearances at the White House, the Grammy Awards, on the NBC Today Show, and in the major concert halls of five continents.

Miró Quartet

The Miró Quartet is an internationally performing professional classical string quartet based in Austin, Texas. The group is the Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Texas and its members are on the faculty of the Butler School of Music. Its members are Daniel Ching, violin; William Fedkenheuer, second violin ; John Largess, viola; and Joshua Gindele, cello.

New Zealand String Quartet

The New Zealand String Quartet is New Zealand’s only full-time string quartet. The current formation of musicians consists of Helene Pohl, Monique Lapins, Gillian Ansell (viola) and Rolf Gjelsten (cello). Former members include Wilma Smith and Douglas Beilman.

Timothy Eddy is an American cellist from Exeter, New Hampshire who is a founder of Orion String Quartet and a resident of the Mannes College The New School for Music. Since 1978 he is a member of Bach Aria Group and is a former member of Galimir String Quartet of New York Philomusica Chamber Ensemble. He is also a winner of numerous competitions such as the 1975 Cassado International Violoncello Competition, Dealy Competition and Denver Symphony Guild.

The Heart of Sarajevo is the highest prize awarded in all the competition categories at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

FEDU

FEDU is an annual children's art festival held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is held in May, lasts for six days and showcases extensive performing arts, literary and music programs from around the world. Furthermore, it organizes numerous workshops for children between the ages of 6 and 14. The festival was established in 2015 by a team headed by children's writer Fahrudin Kučuk in cooperation with the government of the Sarajevo Canton. The main festival venue is the Sarajevo National Theatre. The festival has hosted productions from over 20 countries. It is the only international children's art festival in the Balkans.

Sarajevo Street Art Festival

The Sarajevo Street Art Festival is an annual street art festival held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is held in July of every year and lasts for three days. Each year's edition is made up of numerous street performances, the creation of a new street art quarter in the city, concerts, the painting of large murals and the showcasing of other creative art forms. The final day of the festival is dedicated to children and entails stage music, theatrical and gymnastics workshops, jugglers and street magicians.

Sonemus Fest

Sonemus Fest is an international multi-day contemporary classical music festival which annually takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established in 2001 by The Society Of New Music Sarajevo (SONEMUS) in cooperation with the Sarajevo Music Academy and the Pro Helvetia Foundation. Its focus is on the promotion of classical composers from the countries of Southeast Europe who belong to the modernist aesthetic orientation. The festival has hosted numerous international composers such as Beat Furrer, Pierre Boulez, György Ligeti, Tristan Murail, Michael Jarrell, Toshio Hosokawa, Brian Ferneyhough and others.

Beton Fest

Beton Fest is an international 3D street art festival held annually in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is held in July of every year and lasts for five days, bringing in international street artists from all over the world. It was established in 2012 by the arts association Progres in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts, Sarajevo. Apart from showcasing 3D street art, it also organizes the Beton Music Stage which holds concerts and open-air parties for the duration of the festival. It is the only 3D street art festival in Southeastern Europe and has hosted many renowned street artists such as Vera Bugatti, Giovanna la Pietra, Tony Cuboliquido, Manuel Bastante and others.

Sarajevo International Guitar Festival festival in Sarajevo

The Sarajevo International Guitar Festival is an international multi-day classical guitar music festival which annually takes place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established in 2011 and is the only festival of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2017 it is a full-member of EuroStrings. The festival has hosted numerous international names such as Margarita Escarpa, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Sérgio Assad, Juanjo Domínguez, Le Trio Joubran, Roland Dyens, Dušan Bogdanović, Yorgos Foudoulis, Petar Čulić, Hubert Käppel, Pablo Márquez and others.

The Sarajevo Fashion Film Festival is an international film festival held annually in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It exclusively showcases fashion films, advertising films, music videos and short documentaries on the fashion industry. It was established in 2015 by the Consortio Civium Invictum Foundation in cooperation with the London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and the Madrid Fashion Film Festival.

Street art in Sarajevo

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina has gained international notoriety for its diverse range of street art and associated subcultures. The city has a long history of street art that was first tied to various subcultures in the 1970s and 1980s. During the Bosnian war political and anti-war street art was one of the main artistic focal points of the besieged city. Today, Sarajevo is a European center for street art and hosts two international festivals dedicated to the art form.
