Shane M. Golobic (born August 15,1991) is an American professional dirt track racing driver. He competes in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and United States Auto Club (USAC) National Midget Series for Matt Wood Racing. Prior to racing nationally,much of his dirt racing participation came in his home state of California,which included winning track championships and the California Sprint Car Civil War Series in 2014.
He also has experience in stock car racing,competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and NASCAR Cup Series.
At the age of five,Golobic began Quarter Midget racing at tracks in his native California and driving a car built by his grandfather. When he turned 15,he moved into sprint car racing. [1] While he continued racing in California,he expanded to include events in Indiana as a 16-year-old and won his first race in the state at Lawrenceburg Speedway. [2]
In 2009,he won the Calistoga Speedway 360 Winged Sprints championship by finishing in the top ten in every race. [3] Additional track titles came at Ocean Speedway in 2012 and 2014,while the latter year also saw him win the California Civil War Series championship. [4] [5] In 2016 and 2017,Golobic won the Trophy Cup,a three-day charity race at Thunderbowl Raceway that has the largest sports-related prize money reward in the San Joaquin Valley. [6] [7] At Huset's Speedway in 2020,Golobic won the Midwest Sprint Touring Series 360 Winged Sprint feature over 45 competitors. [8]
He won his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race at Antioch Speedway in 2013. [9] A second victory came at Placerville Speedway in 2019. [10]
In 2017,Golobic ran his first full season in the USAC National Midget Series for Clauson-Marshall Racing and Matt Wood Racing. [11] He won the Indiana Midget Week championship and finished second in the USAC national standings. The following year,he entered the King of the West series with Tarlton Motorsports. [12]
Golobic began competing in the Chili Bowl Nationals in 2008,where he reached the B-Main. [13] He qualified for his first feature A-Main in the 2010 Nationals; [14] additional A-Main runs came in 2011,2013,and 2016 to 2020. His best A-Main finish during the 2010s was seventh in 2013. [15]
During the 2013 racing season,Golobic entered the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and declared for NASCAR Rookie of the Year honors,though he failed to qualify in his first attempt at Stockton 99 Speedway for Valerie Inglebright. [16] In October,he joined Bill McAnally Racing for a three-race schedule beginning at All American Speedway. [17]
In 2021,Golobic joined Live Fast Motorsports for his NASCAR Cup Series debut in Bristol Motor Speedway's Food City Dirt Race. The effort was supported by Matt Wood Racing. [18] After starting 35th,he finished 37th as the result of a lap 41 crash that saw him hit the spinning car of Aric Almirola. [19] [20]
Golobic is a third-generation driver as his father and grandfather competed on dirt tracks throughout California like San Jose Speedway before becoming chassis builders. [1] Father John Golobic finished second in the 1996 California Sprint Car Civil War Series standings. [21] Shane's younger brother,Dustin,often serves as his crew chief on his sprint car. [22] He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from San Jose State University. [1]
A native of Fremont,California,he is nicknamed the "Fremont Flyer". [23] He also has the nickname "Sugar". [15]

Jason Charles Leffler was an American professional open-wheel and stock car racing driver. Leffler began racing in the open-wheel ranks, competing in the 2000 Indianapolis 500 before moving to primarily NASCAR competition. He died from injuries sustained in a 410 sprint car race at Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, New Jersey.
Shane Hmiel is an American former racecar driver, who competed in all three of NASCAR's national series. Hmiel's controversial stock car career, marred by accidents from his aggressive driving style, ended in 2006 after he failed a third substance abuse test and was banned from competing in NASCAR for life. After rebuilding his career in open wheel racing, primarily in United States Auto Club sanctioned dirt track racing, Hmiel was paralyzed in a near fatal racing accident on October 9, 2010, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Prior to the accident, Hmiel had become the first driver to win the Hoosier Hundred, Rich Vogler Classic, and the Pat O'Connor Memorial, the three premier USAC midget-car races, in the same season.
Eldora Speedway is a 0.5 mi (804.672 m) high-banked clay dirt oval. Located north of Rossburg, Ohio in the village of New Weston, Ohio, it features permanent and festival-style seating believed to be in the range of 30,000. The 22,000 permanent grandstand and VIP suite seats make it the largest sports stadium in the Dayton, Ohio-region according to the Dayton Business Journal.
A. J. Fike is an American professional racing driver. He is the older brother of NASCAR driver Aaron Fike. Fike won the 1999 United States Auto Club (USAC) Midget Car rookie of the year title and his younger brother Aaron Fike won the award the following season making them the first brothers to win the award in back to back seasons. He later drove in several NASCAR races.
Richard Frank Vogler was an American champion sprint car and midget car driver. He was nicknamed "Rapid Rich". He competed in the Indianapolis 500 five times, and his best finish was eighth in 1989.
Duane C. Carter Jr., nicknamed "Pancho", is a retired American race car driver. He is most famous for his participation in CART Indy car races. He won the pole position for the 1985 Indianapolis 500, finished third in the 1982 race, and won the 1981 Michigan 500.
Cory Kruseman is an American racing driver. A two-time Chili Bowl champion in midget car racing, he has also competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Firestone Indy Racing League.
Bryan Clauson was an American professional auto racing driver. Best known for his achievements in dirt track open-wheel racing, such as USAC Silver Crown, Midget and Sprint cars. Bryan was seen more and more competing with the World of Outlaws (WoO) sprint cars in his last couple of years. Clauson was a dirt track icon who also competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Indy Lights, and IndyCar Series and was a development driver for Chip Ganassi Racing.
The Chili Bowl Midget Nationals is an indoor midget car race. It takes place in January, two weeks after Christmas, on a 1/4 mile dirt track at the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. NASCAR calls it the "biggest Midget race of the year". It is nicknamed the "Super Bowl of midget racing".
Joshua Wise is an American former professional stock car racing driver and currently an athletic trainer for Chip Ganassi Racing. He began racing in open wheel cars. Wise won the 1999 USAC 3/4 Midget Division, 2005 USAC National Midget Series, and the 2006 USAC Sprint Car Series championships.
Kyle Miyata Larson is an American professional auto racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. Larson is the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion, the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion and Rookie of the Year, the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, and the 2014 Cup Series Rookie of the Year. Before and throughout his stock car racing career, Larson has been highly successful in dirt track racing, with wins in prestigious events including the Kings Royal, Knoxville Nationals, and Chili Bowl Nationals. Kevin Swindell is an American racing driver, who has competed in USAC and NASCAR competition. He has won 77 races in various dirt racing series including the Chili Bowl Nationals. Swindell is the son of three time World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Sammy Swindell.
Rico Emanuel Abreu is an American professional dirt track and stock car racing driver. Abreu won the 2014 USAC National Midget Series championship, and previously competed in the K&N Pro Series East in 2015 scoring one win.

Thorson has also competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, last driving the Nos. 12 and 20 Chevrolet Silverados for Young's Motorsports in 2018.
Christopher R. Windom is an American professional racing driver. Windom was the seventh driver to complete a United States Auto Club (USAC) Triple Crown by winning titles in sprint cars, midget cars, and Silver Crown.
David Gravel is an American professional racing driver. He competes full-time in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, driving the No. 2 Maxim for Big Game Motorsports, in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing, and in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 28 Chevrolet SS for KBR Development. Gravel won the Knoxville Nationals in 2019.
Giovanni Scelzi is an American racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Car series driving the #18 sprint car for KCP Racing.
