Steven Otis (born December 27,1956) is an American politician from the state of New York. He is a member of the New York State Assembly,representing the 91st district. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Otis served as chief of staff to State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer,and mayor of Rye,New York,from 1998 through 2009,when he was defeated for reelection by Douglas French. [1] When Assemblyman George S. Latimer chose to run for the State Senate seat vacated by Oppenheimer in the 2012 elections rather than seek reelection,Otis chose to run for Latimer's seat. [2] [3] Otis has served in the New York State Legislature since 2013.
In 2017,Otis wrote an Assembly bill allowing a sale of public land to Rye Country Day School;the mayors of Rye City [4] and Port Chester [5] appealed to Governor Andrew Cuomo to object to the sale. In 2019,Otis revised the bill,prompting the new mayor of Rye City to appeal to Governor Cuomo,objecting to the terms of the revision. [6]
In 2020,he faced a primary challenge from Rye City Democratic Committee Chairperson Meg Cameron. Otis prevailed by less than 100 votes. [7]
The Governor Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge,commonly known as the Tappan Zee Bridge,was a cantilever bridge in the U.S. state of New York. It was built from 1952 to 1955 to cross the Hudson River at one of its widest points,25 miles (40 km) north of Midtown Manhattan,from South Nyack to Tarrytown. As an integral conduit within the New York Metropolitan Area,the bridge connected South Nyack in Rockland County with Tarrytown in Westchester County in the Lower Hudson Valley.
Interstate 287 (I-287) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in the US states of New Jersey and New York. It is a partial beltway around New York City,serving northern New Jersey and the counties of Rockland and Westchester in New York. I-287,which is signed north–south in New Jersey and east–west in New York,follows a roughly horseshoe-shaped route from the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) in Edison,New Jersey,clockwise to the New England Thruway (I-95) in Rye,New York,for 98.72 miles (158.87 km). Through New Jersey,I-287 runs west from its southern terminus in Edison through suburban areas. In Bridgewater Township,the freeway takes a more northeasterly course,paralleled by US Route 202 (US 202). The northernmost part of I-287 in New Jersey passes through mountainous surroundings. After crossing into New York at Suffern,I-287 turns east on the New York State Thruway (I-87) and runs through Rockland County. After crossing the Hudson River on the Tappan Zee Bridge,I-287 splits from I-87 near Tarrytown and continues east through Westchester County on the Cross-Westchester Expressway until it reaches the New England Thruway. Within New Jersey,I-287 is maintained by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT),and,within New York,it is maintained by the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA).
The lieutenant governor of New York is a constitutional office in the executive branch of the Government of the State of New York. It is the second highest-ranking official in state government. The lieutenant governor is elected on a ticket with the governor for a four-year term. Official duties dictated to the lieutenant governor under the present New York Constitution are to serve as president of the state senate,serve as acting governor in the absence of the governor from the state or the disability of the governor,or to become governor in the event of the governor's death,resignation or removal from office via impeachment. Additional statutory duties of the lieutenant governor are to serve on the New York Court for the Trial of Impeachments,the State Defense Council,and on the board of trustees of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry. George Stephen Latimer is an American politician serving as County Executive of Westchester County,New York since 2018. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in the New York State Senate for the 37th District from 2013 to 2017. Latimer served on the Rye city council,in the Westchester County legislature,and in the New York State Assembly. Latimer was elected Westchester County Executive in November 2017,defeating Incumbent Republican Rob Astorino. Latimer has never lost an election in three decades in public office.

The Tappan Zee Bridge,officially named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge after the former New York governor,is a twin cable-stayed bridge spanning the Tappan Zee section of the Hudson River between Tarrytown and Nyack in the U.S. state of New York. It was built to replace the original Tappan Zee Bridge opened in 1955,which was located just to the south. The bridge's north span carries the northbound and westbound automobile traffic of the New York State Thruway,Interstate 87 (I-87) and I-287;it also carries a shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians. The south span carries southbound and eastbound automobile traffic.

She appointed Brian Benjamin to the position of lieutenant governor and planned to run alongside him until he too resigned in April 2022. Congressman Antonio Delgado was appointed to replace Benjamin as lieutenant governor. Hochul defeated Jumaane Williams and Tom Suozzi in the Democratic primary for governor,while Delgado defeated Ana Maria Archila and Diana Reyna in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor.
