The Cape Verdean Armed Forces, Cabo Verdean Armed Forces or FACV are the military of Cape Verde. They include two branches, the National Guard and the Coast Guard.
Chã das Caldeiras is a small community of approximately 700 inhabitants in the crater of the volcano Pico do Fogo on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. The village consists of two main neighborhoods: Portela and Bangaeira, founded in 1920 and 1917, respectively. At an elevation of about 1,700 meters, it is the highest village in Cape Verde. It is part of the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo. The main organizing body in the village is the Associação dos Agricultores de Chã, an agricultural cooperative that holds considerable sway over the local economy. Chã is the only area in Cape Verde that grows significant quantities of grapes and produces export-quality wines.
Sociedade Central de Cervejas is a Portuguese brewery, founded in 1934. Its main output is the Sagres brand of beers. The company has been controlled by Heineken since April 2008.

The University of Cape Verde is the only public university of Cape Verde. The main campus is in Palmarejo, Praia, but there are also institutes in Mindelo, Assomada and São Jorge dos Órgãos. It has over 5000 students. A new campus for Uni-CV is under construction in Palmarejo, financed by the Chinese government. It should be completed by July 2020. It will have capacity for 4,890 students and 476 professors, with a library, dorms, cafeterias and sports facilities. It will have 61 class rooms, five auditoriums with a capacity of 150 seats, eight computer rooms, eight reading rooms and 34 laboratories.
The Cape Verde women's national football team represents Cape Verde in international women's association football and is governed by the Cape Verdean Football Federation.

Xarém or xerém is a thick soup or porridge from Algarve, Portugal that is eaten in Cape Verde and Brazil as well. It has a corn flour base combined with other traditional ingredients which vary by region. The dish is prepared using corn meal, clams or sardines, and grilled meats. The Algarvian version is most commonly prepared using clams.

CERIS was established as a mixed capital (public/private) company in 1988. In 2001 it was acquired by the Madeira Brewery, and in January 2005 the majority of its shares were sold to the shareholders of Cavibel, part of Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company. It produces the brands Bonaqua, Schweppes, Fanta, Sprite, Coca-Cola, Ceris, the Cape Verdean beer Strela, Ego, Actimalt and Vimto. The factory is located in the neighbourhood Praia Negra, east of the city centre of Praia, the capital of Cape Verde.
