The album's title track peaked at number-one in the United States for seven weeks and gave the singer the title of "The First Lady of Crunk&B", while singles "1, 2 Step" and "Oh" reached the top three in the US. All three singles reached the top 10 in many international markets, with "Goodies" topping charts in the UK. Goodies was certified triple-Platinum in the United States, Platinum in Canada, and sold over five million copies worldwide. Ciara also participated in a number of successful collaborations, including US top five hits "Lose Control" with Missy Elliott, and "Like You" with rapper Bow Wow, as well as the US top 10 "So What" with group Field Mob.

It received mixed reviews, but became a commercial success in Germany, where it reached number two on the German Albums Chart and earned triple Gold certification from the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI). The album's singles "Let's Get Back to Bed – Boy!" and "From Sarah with Love" became international hits, the latter of which reached number one in Germany and Switzerland, the top ten in Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Hungary, and the Netherlands, and was nominated for "Best National Single" at the 2002 ECHO Awards.

This version achieved success in several European countries, where it was a top-10 hit. In 2008, the song was re-recorded as a bilingual duet with French singer Nâdiya under the title "Tired of Being Sorry (Laisse le destin l'emporter)" and became a hit in French-speaking regions.

The song was released as a digital download in Australia and some European countries on 23 September 2011. It was produced by Carlos Paucar and co-produced by Luny Tunes. The song was released by RCA Records and Sony Music Latin on 12 January 2018. A slightly cut version of the song was included as part of his album, Final Vol. 1. The final verse is missing, and there is a slight change in the first chorus. This version comes in at 3:34.
