Tancredo-1 was a Brazilian picosatellite. It was a TubeSat which was developed by the students from the school Tancredo Almeida Neves, in Ubatuba (SP), with support for the picosat platform made by Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), adapting and integration to launch provided by TuPOD [2] from Italian company GAUSS Srl and by Agência Espacial Brasileira (AEB). The idea was proposed by math teacher Cândido Oswaldo de Moura and initially developed by Emerson Issao Yaegashi, it was inspired by Super Interessante Magazine in Brazil and in a video called "TubeSats" and kits to build personal satellites developed by the company Interorbital Systems, in the United States. [4] [7] To start the project, the teacher contacted the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), where, later, he was followed by another teacher to receive training and be able to help the students. The material to construct the satellite sponsored by a salesclerk of Ubatuba and the launch was possible with help of AEB. The satellite was named “Tancredo-1” after the school. [4]
The picosatellite was 13 cm long and has a mass of 570 grams. It had five plaques in its structure. Solar arrays in the cylinder were responsible for powering the components of Tancredo-1. Some space existed inside the satellite that could be used for small scientific experiments in space, in the case of Tancredo-1, two payloads were used: one voice recorder for radio-amateurs, educational payload and one simplified Langmuir probe to study the formation of plasma bubbles in the ionosphere. The Langmuir probe was made by National Institute for Space Research. The platform tubesat passed by a total re-engineering from the work to Mestrado em Engenharia de Sistemas Espaciais Eng. Auro Tikami from INPE with orientation of Walter Abrahão dos Santos – INPE. [8]
Almost 100 students took part in the project with the job of welding pieces and building electric circuits. [4] [7] It orbited the Earth from 310 km. The satellite suffered orbital decay and burnt up in the atmosphere. [4] [7]
The TubeSat started transmitting on January 19, 2017 on the frequency of 437.200 MHz in the 70 cm amateur band. [9]

Marcos Cesar Pontes is a Brazilian Air Force pilot, engineer, AEB astronaut, politician and author. He became the first South American and the first Lusophone to go into space when he docked onto the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-8 on March 30, 2006. He is the only Brazilian to have completed the NASA astronaut training program, although he switched to training in Russia after NASA's Space Shuttle program encountered problems. After Jair Bolsonaro's election as President of Brazil in 2018, Pontes was officially nominated to be Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, a post which he accepted days later and assumed when Bolsonaro's government began. He left the post on 31 March 2022 and in the same year was elected federal senator for his state, São Paulo.
A small satellite, miniaturized satellite, or smallsat is a satellite of low mass and size, usually under 1,200 kg (2,600 lb). While all such satellites can be referred to as "small", different classifications are used to categorize them based on mass. Satellites can be built small to reduce the large economic cost of launch vehicles and the costs associated with construction. Miniature satellites, especially in large numbers, may be more useful than fewer, larger ones for some purposes – for example, gathering of scientific data and radio relay. Technical challenges in the construction of small satellites may include the lack of sufficient power storage or of room for a propulsion system.

The Brazilian space program is the rocketry and space exploration programs conducted by Brazil from 1961 until the creation of the Brazilian Space Agency in 1994. It had significant capabilities in launch vehicles, launch sites, and satellite manufacturing. It was based at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT). The program was under complete military control, which hindered its development, as other countries blocked technological development due to concerns over missile proliferation. In 1994, the space program was transferred to civilian control under the Brazilian Space Agency.

The SABIA-Mar, originally called SAC-E by CONAE, is a dual satellite joint Earth observation mission. The mission objective is to study the oceanic biosphere, its changes over time, and how it is affected by and reacts to human activity. It will focus on the monitoring of ocean surfaces, especially studying the ocean ecosystem, the carbon cycle, and marine habitats, as well as ocean mapping.
The VLM is a proposed three-stage satellite launcher being developed by the Brazilian General Command for Aerospace Technology in collaboration with Germany. The fourth CBERS satellite to fly, it was lost in a launch failure in December 2013.
China–Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 4 (CBERS-4), also known as Ziyuan I-04 or Ziyuan 1E, is a remote sensing satellite intended for operation as part of the China–Brazil Earth Resources Satellite program between the Chinese Center for Resources Satellite Data and Application and Brazilian National Institute for Space Research. The fifth CBERS satellite to fly, it was successfully launched on 7 December 2014. It replaces CBERS-3 which was lost in a launch failure in December 2013.

Garatéa-L is a space probe planned by the Brazilian company Airvantis with the support of institutions such as INPE, IMT, ITA, LNLS/CNPEM, PUC-RS, UFSC, USP and USRA. Is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and controlling the country's air and space operations. The Brazilian Navy and Brazilian Army also are part of the organization.
VLS-1 V01 was the first launch of the VLS-1 rocket that took place on November 2, 1997, from the Alcantara Space Center with the objective of putting the SCD-2A satellite into orbit. The launch was unsuccessful after the rocket was remotely destroyed due to deviation from its trajectory.
