Hammel is a town in central Denmark with a population of 7,019, and a former railway town at the Aarhus-Hammel-Thorsø railroad which was closed in 1956. The town is located in Favrskov municipality in Jutland. Until 1 January 2007 it was also the site of the municipal council of the now former Hammel Municipality.
Funen County is a former county in central Denmark, comprising the islands of Funen, Langeland, Tåsinge, Ærø, and approximately 90 other islands, of which only 25 are inhabited. The county was formed on 1 April 1970, comprising the former counties of Odense and Svendborg. The county was abolished from 1 January 2007, when it merged into Region of Southern Denmark.
Assens is a town with a population of 6,061 on the west coast of the island of Funen on the eastern side of the Little Belt in central Denmark. By road, Assens is located 41.2 kilometres (25.6 mi) southwest of Odense, 34 kilometres (21 mi) northwest of Faaborg, and 33.34 kilometres (20.72 mi) southeast of Middelfart. Assens is the municipal seat of Assens Municipality in Region of Southern Denmark. It was the birthplace of sculptor Jens Adolf Jerichau who married the well-known portraitist Elisabeth Jerichau-Baumann; both artists' works are exhibited at the local art museum, Vestfyns Kunstmuseum.
Tårnby Kommune is a municipality bordering Copenhagen Municipality on the island of Amager just east of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality includes the islands of Saltholm and Peberholm (1.3 km2), and covers an area of 64.95 km2 of which 48.9 on Amager. It has a population of 43,042. Its mayor is Allan S. Andersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.
