The Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) is the post that is, in principle, the deputy and the second-in-command (S-in-C) of the Pakistan Navy and is also the most senior Principal Staff Officer (PSO) at NHQ, reporting and functioning under the Chief of the Naval Staff. [1] This post is usually held by a senior flag officer of Vice Admiral rank.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) is, in principle, the highest-ranking and senior most uniformed military officer, typically at four-star rank, in the Pakistan Armed Forces who serves as a Principal Staff Officer and a chief military adviser to the civilian government led by elected Prime minister of Pakistan and his/her National Security Council. Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani is a Pakistani naval attaché and vice admiral in the Pakistan Navy and the former vice chief of the naval staff. Before assuming the office, he was serving as Chief of Staff branch Personnel, and later was assigned onboard for Washington as an attaché of Pakistan navy and now has retired from service.
