The vice president of Kyrgyzstan was a political position in the government of Kyrgyzstan created in December 1990. [1] The position was abolished in 1993.

Contents

The Vice President was charged with assuming the duties of the president should he or she be unable to perform them. Under article 50 of the 2007 constitution, the Prime Minister now bears that responsibility.

President of Kyrgyzstan

The president of Kyrgyzstan is both the head of state and the head of government and the highest official of the Kyrgyz Republic. The president, according to the constitution, "is the symbol of the unity of people and state power, and is the guarantor of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, and of an individual and citizen." The president is directly elected for no more than one six-year term by the Kyrgyz electorate. The office of president was established in 1990 replacing the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet that existed, in different forms, from 1927 whilst the country was known as the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic.

Roza Otunbayeva

Roza Isakovna Otunbayeva is a Kyrgyz diplomat and politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 7 April 2010 until 1 December 2011, becoming the first female Central Asian Head of State. She was sworn in on July 3, 2010, after acting as interim leader following the 2010 April revolution which led to the ousting of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev. She previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as head of the parliamentary caucus for the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan.

Akayev replaced him on 27 February 1992 in favor of Feliks Kulov. He is ethnic Russian. Additionally he was the chairman of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR from August to September 1991, and also First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan since March 1992.

Ala-Archa Cemetery Cemetery in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

The Ala-Archa Cemetery is a public cemetery for honoured individuals in Kyrgyzstan. It is located on Abdumomunova Street in Bishkek to the west of the Avenue of the Young Guards. It is near the Ala Archa National Park in the Tian Shan mountains. It was opened in 1948 and currently occupies 31 hectares of land. It has historical and cultural significance in the City of Bishkek due to its regular use by order of the Government of Kyrgyzstan for the burial and/or re-burial of Kyrgyz citizens who held the status of political or public status such as former Prime Ministers as well as distinguished persons in the fine arts. It has served this purpose since 1973, when the Executive Committee of the Frunze City Council repurposed it taking into account the limited space available at the time.

Vice President of Mali

2020 Kyrgyzstani protests Protests against the October 2020 parliamentary election

The 2020 Kyrgyzstani protests began on 5 October 2020 in response to the recent parliamentary election that was perceived by protestors as unfair, with allegations of vote rigging. The results of the election were annulled on 6 October 2020. On 12 October 2020, President Jeenbekov announced a state of emergency in the capital city of Bishkek, which was approved by Parliament the following day. Jeenbekov resigned on 15 October 2020.
