The Volkswagen Multivan (T7) is seventh generation of the Volkswagen large van series. The Multivan is introduced as a large MPV riding on the front-wheel drive based MQB Evo platform which categorises vehicles such as the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Caddy. [3] The Multivan offers a range of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models. [4] The T7 Multivan went on sale in Europe in 2022. [5]
The T7 Multivan is solely produced as a passenger car. For commercial applications (cargo/panel van), the T6.1 Transporter continued production until 2023, [6] with its replacement built as a sibling of the Ford Transit Custom instead, and will not be based on or related to the T7 Multivan. Both the VW and Ford vans will be offered with diesel, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or all-electric drivetrains. [7] Sales of this commercial model is expected to begin in 2024. [8]
In mid-2023, Volkswagen had debuted the T7 California Concept at the 2023 Caravan Salon. The T7 is now positioned above the Caddy and ID.Buzz, and below Crafter in VW's van lineup.
In June 2021, Volkswagen had unveiled the T7 to replace the Caravelle. [3] Longer than its predecessor, the vehicle offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time. The SWB model measures 4,973 mm (195.8 in), which is about 70 mm longer than before. The LWB models measures 5,173 mm (203.7 in), which is about 130 mm shorter. [9] Production had started in November 2021, order books for the T7 had opened in January 2022, and deliveries had started in March 2022. [1] Three distinct trims (base Life, mid-range Style, and top-range Energetic) are available. [1]
The T7 moves towards the upscale MPV segment, mainly because of the technology and comfort increase compared to the previous generation. The T7 has expanded in price to the point where it costs more than third-generation Mercedes-Benz V-Class. [9] The T7 is a three-row vehicle (seven-seater) that uses all-time front-wheel drive.
For eHybrid models, charging via an AC charger supports a maximum capacity of 3.6 kilowatts, and will take less than 3 hours and 40 minutes. [10] Fast charging is not accessible. The T7 eHybrid features a WLTP-rated range of 46–50 km (29–31 mi), and a NEDC-rated range of 58–60 km (36–37 mi). [11]
For space, the T7 can carry 469 litres (16.6 cu ft) of luggage space with all seats in place. With the third row down, the T7 can carry 1,850 litres (65 cu ft) of luggage. Removing the second row makes the total capacity 3,672 litres (129.7 cu ft). For the LWB model, the T7 can carry a total of 4,053 litres (143.1 cu ft) with second and third row seats down. Volkswagen says the seats in the second and third row are 25 per cent lighter to make seat removal an easier process. As the second row seats can rotate up to 180 degrees, passengers in the back can face one another. [12]
Models start at the 1.5 EA211 TSI I4 turbo model which generates an output of 136 hp (101 kW) and 220 N⋅m (160 lbf⋅ft). It is followed by the 2.0 TSI EA888 I4 turbo model which generates a power and torque of 204 hp (152 kW) and 320 N⋅m (240 lbf⋅ft) respectively. The diesel model, which uses a 2.0 TDI I4 turbo, has an output of 204 hp (152 kW) and 320 N⋅m (240 lbf⋅ft). A PHEV model, which uses a 1.4 EA211 I4 turbo engine, combines a petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 218 hp (163 kW) and 350 N⋅m (260 lbf⋅ft). [13] The 2.0 TSI, 2.0 TDI, and the 1.5 TSI models use a 7-speed DSG, however the 1.4 PHEV model uses a 6-speed DSG.
Trim levels for the Multivan start at the Life variant. Standard features include: 16-inch alloy wheels, a digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment system. The Style variant adds: the IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights, Volkswagen's Discover Media navigation system, Park Assist, electrically sliding doors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Energetic variant includes what the other trims feature, but adds a PHEV powertrain, a six-speed DCT, 18-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof, and a premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with an 840W amplifier. [1] The T7 features twelve colour configurations; three of which are two-tone and the rest which are conventionally coloured.

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car/small family car (C-segment) produced by the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen since 1974, marketed worldwide across eight generations, in various body configurations and under various nameplates – including as the Volkswagen Rabbit in the United States and Canada, and as the Volkswagen Caribe in Mexico (Mk1).
The Volkswagen Jetta is a compact car/small family car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen since 1979. Positioned to fill a sedan niche slightly above the firm's Golf hatchback, it has been marketed over seven generations, variously as the Atlantic, Vento, Bora, City Jetta, Jetta City, GLI, Jetta, Clasico, and Sagitar.
The Volkswagen Passat is a nameplate of large family cars (D-segment) manufactured and marketed by the German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen since 1973 and also marketed variously as the Dasher, Santana, Quantum, Magotan, Corsar and Carat — in saloon, estate, and hatchback body styles.
The Volkswagen Touran is a car manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen since 2003 and sold in Europe and other select markets. A compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), it fills a gap in Volkswagen's model lineup between the Volkswagen Golf, with which it shares its platform, and the Volkswagen Sharan, its larger counterpart, which ceased production in 2022. The vehicle has been sold in Japan as the Golf Touran and the crossover-styled variant as the CrossTouran. The name 'Touran' is derived from the combination of 'Tour' and 'Sharan'. Despite the similarity of their names, the Touran is not related to the North American market Volkswagen Routan. The vehicle is delivered in five or seven seat versions.
The Škoda Superb is a mid-size/large family car (D-segment) that has been produced by the Czech car manufacturer Škoda Auto since 2001. The first generation of the modern Superb, produced from 2001 to 2008, was based on the VW B5 PL45+ platform. The second generation Superb used the B6 A6/PQ46 and was introduced in 2008. The third and current generation using the MQB platform entered production in 2015.
The Volkswagen Tiguan is a sport utility vehicle produced by German manufacturer Volkswagen since 2007, sitting between the smaller T-Roc and the larger Touareg in the company's crossover SUV range. The first generation was based on the PQ46 platform, while the second generation, released in 2016, utilizes the Volkswagen Group MQB A2 platform. The Volkswagen Golf Mk5 is a compact car/small family car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen, as the fifth generation of the Golf in three- or five-door hatchback and a five-door station wagon (2007–2009) configurations, as well as the successor to the Golf Mk4. The Volkswagen Passat for the North American and Chinese markets is a mid-size sedan that debuted in January 2011 at the Detroit Auto Show. It replaced the B6 Passat in the North American market. The Passat NMS was marketed in North America, the Middle East, South Korea and China, with no wagon/estate version available. In China, it is sold alongside the long-wheelbase version of the European Passat known as the Magotan.
The Volkswagen Transporter T5 range is the fifth generation of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV/VWN) 'Transporter' series of medium-sized light commercial vehicles and the people mover Caravelle/Multivan range. It was launched 6 October 2002, and went into full production on 25 April 2003, replacing the fourth generation T4 Transporter range.
The Volkswagen Golf Mk6 is a compact car and the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Golf. The Volkswagen Golf Mk6 is the successor to the Volkswagen Golf Mk5 and It was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008 for the 2009 model year. Volkswagen released pictures and information on August 6, 2008, prior to the official unveiling. The vehicle was released to the European market in the winter of 2008. Volkswagen claimed investments were made in production efficiency, with a claimed productivity improvement at launch of nearly 20% in comparison with the previous model, with further gains planned for the first twelve months of production. This model year was also a part of the Dieselgate scandal.
The Volkswagen Polo Mk5 is the fifth generation of the Polo, a supermini-class car manufactured by Volkswagen since 2009. The vehicle unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March 2009, while the three-door version was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. A four-door long-wheelbase sedan version has been produced and sold outside Europe in several emerging markets since 2010 either as the Volkswagen Vento or the Volkswagen Polo sedan. A short-wheelbase sedan version was sold in India between 2016 and 2020 as the Volkswagen Ameo.
The Volkswagen Passat is a front-engine D-segment large family car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen from 2005 to 2011 (B6) and from 2010 to 2015. Respectively the six and seventh generation Passat, and internally designated B6 and B7, they were marketed in sedan and wagon bodystyles in front-wheel as well as all-wheel drive configurations, with a range of petrol and diesel engines.
The Volkswagen Transporter, based on the Volkswagen Group's T platform, now in its seventh generation, refers to a series of vans produced for over 70 years and marketed worldwide.
The Volkswagen Beetle, also sold as the Volkswagen Käfer, Volkswagen Coccinelle, Volkswagen Maggiolino, and Volkswagen Fusca in some countries, is a small family car manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen introduced in 2011 for the 2012 model year, as the successor to the New Beetle launched in 1997. It features a lower profile while retaining an overall shape homaging the original Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle. One of Volkswagen's goals with the model was to give it a more aggressive appearance while giving it some stylistic aspects reminiscent of the Type 1. This was an attempt to distance the new model from the New Beetle, produced from 1997 to 2011, which never approached the success of the original Beetle.
The Volkswagen Golf (Mk7) is a C-segment car manufactured by German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen. It is the seventh generation in the Golf series and the successor to the Golf Mk6, and was introduced in Berlin on 4 September 2012, before a public launch at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Sales in Europe began with the model in November 2012.
The Volkswagen T-Roc is a Subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen. It was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and launched in November 2017. It is based on the Volkswagen Group MQB A1 platform, and generally has been considered as the SUV equivalent of the C-segment Golf. It is positioned between the Tiguan and the slightly smaller T-Cross, while being approximately the same size as the Taigo.
The Volkswagen Arteon is a car manufactured by German car manufacturer Volkswagen. Described as a large family car or a mid-size car, it is available in five-door liftback or estate body styles. The Arteon was unveiled on 6 March 2017, at the Geneva Motor Show, and at the Chicago Auto Show for the North American market. It is direct successor to the CC; however, Volkswagen announced that the Arteon is positioned to be more upmarket than the CC. The vehicle is based on the MQB platform.
The Volkswagen Transporter T6 is the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Transporter vans. It is the successor to the T5 Transporter. The Transporter line is the mid-size van offered by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, between the larger Crafter and smaller Caddy.
The Volkswagen Jetta (A6) is a compact car, the sixth generation of the Volkswagen Jetta and the successor to the Jetta (A5). Known as the NCS during its development, it was released in 2010 and was phased out since 2018 to make way for the Jetta (A7). The A6 Jetta is notable for leaving the premium positioning in the compact car segment, a strategy employed by Volkswagen to increase volume in the North American market. It also marked the departure from being a sedan derivative of the Golf, opting for a dedicated bodywork instead.
The Volkswagen Golf (Mk8) is a compact car, the eighth generation of the Volkswagen Golf and the successor to the Volkswagen Golf Mk7. It was launched in Wolfsburg on 24 October 2019, and arrived in German showrooms in December 2019.
