It was held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 July to 7 August 2021. [1] It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. [2] Because of this pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. [3]
