The Columbia Southern Railway Passenger Station and Freight Warehouse is a historic train station at the intersection of Clark and Fulton Streets in Wasco, Oregon. The station was built in 1898 by the Columbia Southern Railway as part of a new line connecting inland Oregon to the Columbia River. The Wasco depot served both passenger and freight trains along the route, which reached as far south as Shaniko and spurred economic development in the region. While the Oregon Trunk Railway's new line to Bend became the main inland Oregon route in 1911, the Columbia Southern route continued to serve Sherman County as a local route. Passenger service to Wasco ended in 1936, and a 1964 flood damaged the line severely enough to permanently end freight services as well. [2]

The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 19, 1991. [1]

Freight operations continued and the railway survived into the 1990s, ultimately as a Burlington Northern feeder. Operation as an electric railroad ended July 10, 1945.

T&P Station features free parking which can be accessed from West Vickery Boulevard.

The Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway was a railroad in the northwest United States. Incorporated in 1905, it was a joint venture by the Great Northern Railway and the Northern Pacific Railway to build a railroad along the north bank of the Columbia River. Remnants of the line are currently operated by BNSF Railway and the Portland and Western Railroad.

The Great Southern Railroad was a 41-mile short-line which interchanged with the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company, later the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company (OWR&N), in The Dalles, Oregon, United States. The rail line ran south along Fifteen Mile Creek through Boyd to Dufur, and on to the small community of Friend. Besides the railhead junction with OWR&N, the Great Southern also had connections with two steamship line operating on the Columbia River; The Dalles, Portland & Astoria Navigation Co., and The Open River Transportation Co.

It has been the primary station for the city, serving Amtrak today, and the Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads in the past. Until the mid-20th century, the Southern Pacific Railroad had a station 3/4 of a mile away. It currently serves one Amtrak and two Metrolink lines. The depot is a historical landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Passenger and Freight Depot.

Framingham station is a historic Boston and Albany Railroad station located in downtown Framingham, Massachusetts. Designed by noted American architect H. H. Richardson, it was one of the last of the railroad stations he designed in the northeastern United States to be built. The station, built in 1884–85, served as a major stop on the B&A Main Line as well as a hub for branch lines to Milford, Mansfield, Fitchburg, and Lowell. After years of deterioration, the station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 as the Framingham Railroad Station, and restored a decade later.

Union Station served the residents of Chatham, New York, from 1887 to 1972 as a passenger station and until 1976 as a freight station. It was the final stop for Harlem Line trains. It had originally served trains of the Boston and Albany Railroad, then the New York Central Railroad and the Rutland Railway. It served as a junction for service that radiated to Rensselaer, New York, to the northwest; Hudson, New York, to the southwest; Vermont, to the northeast, and Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the east and New York City, to the south.

The Santa Monica Air Line was an interurban railroad operated by the Pacific Electric between Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles. Electric passenger service operated over the line between 1908 and 1953. After abandonment as a freight railroad, most of the route was converted to light rail for use by the Metro E Line.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Columbia Southern Railway</span>

The Columbia Southern Railway built a rail line extending 69.46 miles (111.79 km) from Biggs south to Shaniko, Oregon, U.S. The company was incorporated on March 5, 1897, and intended to continue beyond Shaniko to Prineville, with a branch to Canyon City. Operations began October 6, 1897, on 8.5 miles (13.7 km) from Biggs to Wasco, and the line was extended to Moro on January 13, 1899, Grass Valley on March 27, 1900, and Shaniko on May 13, 1900. The Union Pacific Railroad (UP), owner of the Oregon Railroad and Navigation Company (OR&N), which followed the Columbia River through Biggs, gained control of the Columbia Southern in 1905, and leased it to the OR&N on June 30, 1906. The properties of the OR&N and Columbia Southern Railway were conveyed to new UP subsidiary Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company on December 23, 1910.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">North Bank Depot Buildings</span> Historic buildings in Portland, Oregon, U.S.

The North Bank Depot Buildings, in central Portland, Oregon, United States, are a pair of buildings formerly used as a freight warehouse and passenger terminal for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway (SP&S). Formed in 1905, the SP&S was commonly known as the North Bank Road during the period in which these buildings were in use. The Portland buildings' passenger facilities were also used by the Oregon Electric Railway after that railway was acquired by the SP&S. Located in what is now known as the Pearl District, the buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. They were in use by the SP&S and its successor, Burlington Northern Railroad, from 1908 until the 1980s. Only the east building was used as a passenger station, and this usage lasted from 1908 until 1931.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Metolius station</span> United States historic place

Metolius station, also known as the Oregon Trunk Passenger and Freight Station is a historic railway station located on Washington Street at the foot of Sixth Street in Metolius, Oregon. The station was built in 1911 to serve passenger and freight traffic along the Oregon Trunk Railway, which provided a railway connection for towns in central Oregon. The station building has a Stick Style design and was built to a standard station plan used by the line. As the railroad entered a canyon on the Deschutes River near Metolius, it became an important station on the line, as its railway yard housed the pusher locomotives needed to help trains out of the canyon. The railway opened up previously inaccessible land to homesteaders; some of these homesteaders settled in the Metolius area, while others traveled further down the line to Redmond and Bend. The station closed in 1983; by then it served the Burlington Northern Railroad, which sold the building to the city of Metolius the next year.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hood River station</span>

The Hood River station is a historic train station in Hood River, Oregon, currently serving the heritage Mount Hood Railroad. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company Passenger Station. The station was built by the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company, a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad, in 1911. Amtrak's Pioneer also used the station and nearby area from 1977 to 1997.
