Indonesian Idol is an Indonesian reality television singing competition created by Simon Fuller and produced by RCTI Production Team and FremantleMedia Asia. The show began airing on RCTI in March 2004 and became one of the most popular shows in the history of Indonesian television. Part of the Idol franchise, it was as a spin-off from the UK show Pop Idol.

She is known for her powerful vocals and skilled singing techniques. Dewi is the daughter of legendary Batak singer Jack Marpaung. She was the runner-up of Cipta Pesona Bintang, the weekly champion of Asia Bagus, and the winner of Festival Suara Remaja Vinolia (RCTI). The winner was Marlisa Punzalan and her winner's single "Stand by You" was released after the final. Punzalan became the youngest winner of the show at 15 years old and was the first contestant from the Girls category to do so. She was mentored by Keating, who won as mentor for the second time after previously mentoring season two winner Altiyan Childs in 2010.

This is the first aired by RCTI, after the previous broadcaster Indosiar dropped the show after its first one season due to poor ratings. Television personality and Indonesian Idol host Daniel Mananta was appointed as the show's new host, with Ari Lasso, Agnez Mo, Kaka "Slank", and Judika selected as coaches. Coach Ariel "Noah" served as an advisor for all teams during the knockout rounds. The winner of the knockout rounds received a 1 billion rupiahs recording contract with Universal Music Indonesia and a Toyota Yaris AT. The show aired Fridays and Saturdays at 9:00 p.m. Starting on April 1, the show aired every Friday at 9:00 p.m.
