Stanmore is a rural locality in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. [2] In the 2021 census, Stanmore had a population of 454 people. [3]
Stanmore is 70 kilometres (43 mi) north of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. The Stanley River passes through Stanmore and marks part of the northern boundary. Bellthorpe State Forest occupies a section of the north. Kilcoy–Beerwah Road runs through from south to north-east. [4]
The locality derives its name from a grazing property Stanmore established by George Adophus Mason by 1875 and operated by him until his death in 1936. [2] [5] [6] [7]
Stanmore Provisional School opened in 1891. On 1 January 1909 it became Stanmore State School. It closed on 31 December 1972. [8] The school was at 491-495 Kilcoy Beerwah Road ( 26°53′37″S152°46′54″E / 26.8935°S 152.7818°E ). [9] [10] [11]
In 1912 part of the Stanmore property was subdivided and sold. [12] [13]
In the 2011 census, Stanmore recorded a population of 481 people, 50.5% female and 49.5% male.
