Parliamentary elections were held in Chile on 7 March 1965. [1] The Christian Democratic Party, led by Eduardo Frei Montalva, won a majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies, the first time a party had held a majority for several decades. The party also became the largest party in the Senate.
The term length for Senators was eight years, with around half of the Senators elected every four years. This election saw 21 of the 45 Senate seats up for election. [2]

The Senate of the Dominican Republic is the upper house in the bicameral legislature of the Dominican Republic, and together with the Chamber of Deputies makes up the Congress.
Parliamentary elections were held in Chile on 5 March 1961. The Radical Party remained the largest party in the Chamber of Deputies and also became the largest party in the Senate.

Parliamentary elections were held in Nigeria on 7 July 1979 for the first time since 1964 to elect a Senate and House of Representatives on 14 July. The result was a victory for the National Party of Nigeria, which won 36 of the 95 Senate seats and 168 of the 449 House seats. It formed a coalition with the Nigerian People's Party in order to gain a majority. Voter turnout was just 30.7% in the House election.
General elections were held in Puerto Rico on November 5, 1968. Luis A. Ferré of the New Progressive Party (PNP) was elected Governor. In the House of Representatives elections the PNP won a plurality of the vote, but the Popular Democratic Party won a majority of the seats. They also won a majority of seats in the Senate. Voter turnout was 78%.
General elections were held in Puerto Rico on November 4, 1980. Carlos Romero Barceló of the New Progressive Party (PNP) was re-elected Governor. In the House of Representatives elections the PNP received a plurality of votes, but the Popular Democratic Party won a majority of the seats. They also won a majority of seats in the Senate. Voter turnout was 88%.

The result was a victory for the Civic Democratic Party, which won 32 of the 81 seats. Voter turnout was 34.9% in the first round and 30.6% in the second.
