2003 European Athletics Junior Championships

The 2003 European Athletics Junior Championships was held in Tampere, Finland from 23 to 27 July 2003. A total of 44 events were contested; 22 by men and 22 by women. Germany had the biggest medal haul with nine golds and a total of 26, closely followed by Russia. Great Britain was third with 17 medals, while Romania was fourth with ten medals. Four championship records were set at the competition, although three were as a result of using lighter implements in the men's throwing events.

1993 IAAF World Indoor Championships

The 4th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held at the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from March 12 to March 14, 1993. It was the last Indoor Championships to feature the 5,000 and 3,000 metres race walk events. In addition, it was the first Indoor Championships to include heptathlon and pentathlon, albeit as non-championship events. There were a total number of 537 athletes participated from 93 countries.

1991 IAAF World Indoor Championships

The 3rd IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics were held at the Palacio Municipal de Deportes San Pablo in Seville, Spain from March 8 to March 10, 1991. It was the first Indoor Championships to include relay races as well as women's triple jump, albeit as a non-championship event. There were a total number of 518 athletes participated from 80 countries.

Tereza Moncheva Marinova is a Bulgarian athlete who specialised in the triple jump. She was the gold medallist in that event at the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medallist at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics and 1998 European Athletics Championships. She won triple jump titles at the 2001 IAAF World Indoor Championships and 2002 European Athletics Indoor Championships. She made her international debut in 1994 and retired in 2008.

1974 European Athletics Indoor Championships

The 5th European Athletics Indoor Championships were held on 9 and 10 March 1974 in Gothenburg, Sweden at the Scandinavium.

1973 European Athletics Indoor Championships

The 4th European Athletics Indoor Championships were held between 10 and 11 March 1973 in Rotterdam, Netherlands at the Ahoy arena.

Hennadiy Bleznitsov is a retired Ukrainian pole vaulter who represented the USSR. He trained at Burevestnik and later at the Armed Forces sports society in Kharkov. He represented his country twice at the Olympic Games, reaching the finals in both 1964 and 1968.

1972 European Athletics Indoor Championships

The 3rd European Athletics Indoor Championships were held between 11–12 March 1972 in Grenoble, France.

Totka Nikolaeva Petrova is a retired female middle distance runner who represented Bulgaria in the 1970s and the early 1980s. She specialized in the 800 and 1500 metres, and won numerous international medals. She is still the Bulgarian 1500 metres record holder.

2014 European Athletics Championships

The 2014 European Athletics Championships was held in Zürich, Switzerland, between 12–17 August 2014. It was the first time that Switzerland had hosted the European Athletics Championships since 1954.

Svetla Stefanova Zlateva is a retired Bulgarian sprinter and middle-distance runner who specialized in the 400 and 800 metres. She is a former world record holder in the latter event.

Lilyana Tomova-Todorova, born 9 August 1946) is a retired Bulgarian sprinter and middle-distance runner who specialized in the 400, 800 and 1500 metres.

2016 European Athletics Championships

The 2016 European Athletics Championships was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. It was the first time the Netherlands hosted the event.

At the 1995 Summer Universiade, the athletics events were held at the Hakatanomori Athletic Stadium in Fukuoka, Japan from 29 August to 3 September. A total of 43 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 20 by female athletes.

2018 European Athletics Championships

The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom.

Emilia Dragieva is a Bulgarian former track and field athlete who specialised in the high jump. Her personal best was 2.00 m, which she set while winning her sole international medal – a bronze at the 1987 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Yana Kasova is a Bulgarian former track and field athlete who specialised in the 100 metres hurdles. Her personal best for the event is 12.75 seconds. She was the bronze medallist at the 2002 European Athletics Championships.

Sigrid Ulbricht is a German former track and field athlete who competed in the long jump for East Germany. She was the champion at the IAAF World Cup and European Cup in 1981 and represented her country at the Olympic Games in 1980.

Gabriela Mihalcea is a Romanian former track and field athlete who competed in the high jump and pole vault. She holds the Romanian record of 4.25 m for the pole vault. She was two-time national champion in high jump and a six-time pole vault champion.
