The 1987 European Athletics Junior Championships was the ninth edition of the biennial athletics competition for European athletes aged under twenty. It was held in Birmingham, United Kingdom between 6 and 9 August. [1]

1964 European Junior Games International athletics championship event

The 1964 European Junior Games was the first edition of what would become the biennial athletics competition for European athletes aged under twenty. It was an unofficial competition without sanction from the European Athletic Association. The event was held at the 10th-Anniversary Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, between 18 and 20 September. The success of the competition eventually led to the creation of the official European Athletics Junior Championships in 1970.

Kévin Menaldo French pole vaulter

Kévin Menaldo is a French track and field athlete who competes in the pole vault. He has a personal best of 5.75 m and was the silver medallist at the 2013 Mediterranean Games.

Ari Paunonen is a Finnish male former middle- and long-distance runner who competed over distances from 800 metres up to 10,000 metres. His best international performances at a major event were bronze at the 1977 European Cup and fifth at the 1983 European Athletics Indoor Championships. He was also the 1500 m silver medallist at the Nordic Indoor Athletics Championships in 1986.

María Reyes Sobrino Spanish racewalker

María Reyes Sobrino Jiménez is a Spanish former racewalking athlete who competed mainly in the 3000 metres race walk and 10 kilometres race walk. Her greatest achievement was a gold medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1988. She was a five-time participant at the IAAF World Racewalking Cup and twice a World Championships in Athletics competitor.
