The 1991 European Athletics Junior Championships was the eleventh edition of the biennial athletics competition for European athletes aged under twenty. It was held in Thessaloniki, Greece between 8 and 11 August. [1]

The European Athletics U20 Championships are the European championships for athletes who are under-20 athletes, which is the age range recognised by World Athletics as junior athletes. The event is currently organized by the European Athletic Association.
Volker Mai is a former triple jumper who represented East Germany. Representing SC Neubrandenburg, he holds the current world junior record with 17.50 metres, achieved on 23 June 1985 in Erfurt.
Andrei Sergeyevich Krauchanka is a Belarusian decathlete. He was the silver medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His personal best score of 8617 points is the Belarusian record for the event. He also holds the national indoor record in the heptathlon with 6282 points.
Amela Terzić is a Serbian middle-distance runner. She won two gold medals at 2011 European Athletics Junior Championships in Tallinn and was the junior champion at the 2012 European Cross Country Championships. She has also been a medallist in the 1500 metres at the World Junior and World Youth Championships and a gold medalist at the 2013 European U23 Championship.

She became the first British woman to win the NCAA Women's Division I Cross Country Championship in 2014, running for Iona College.
Lorraine Ugen is an English long jumper and occasional 100 m sprinter with respective personal bests of 7.05 m and 11.32 s. Ugen competed for Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics in Rio in the long jump, finishing in eleventh place.
Douwe Jorn Amels is a Dutch track and field athlete who specialises in the high jump. He has a personal best of 2.28 m and represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2013 and in 2019.
