Osijek is the fourth-largest city in Croatia, with a population of 96,848 in 2021. It is the largest city and the economic and cultural centre of the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia, as well as the administrative centre of Osijek-Baranja County. Osijek is on the right bank of the Drava River, 25 km (16 mi) upstream of its confluence with the Danube, at an elevation of 94 m (308 ft).

Nogometni klub Osijek, commonly referred to as NK Osijek, is a Croatian professional football club from Osijek. The Croatian Football Super Cup is a football match between the winners of the Croatian national top league and football cup. The Super Cup is always held at the beginning of a new football season, and is only held when different clubs win the two most important competitions in the previous season.

Gradski vrt Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Osijek, Croatia. It is located in the Gradski vrt neighbourhood in Novi grad city district. With a capacity of 17,061, it has been the home ground of two Croatian football clubs, NK Osijek and Fortuna VNO Osijek.

Sport in Croatia has significant role in Croatian culture, and many local sports clubs as well as the Croatian national squads enjoy strong followings in the country. The most enduring sport by far in Croatia is football, and is played on amateur and professional levels amongst all age groups across the entire country. Several other major team sports are handball, basketball and water polo, with clubs in all parts of Croatia. Ice hockey is another popular team sport, namely in the Croatian interior. The most popular individual sports in Croatia are tennis, alpine skiing, and swimming, and to some extent table tennis and chess. Various amateur sport games are popular in Croatia, notably picigin.

Nino Salukvadze is a Georgian sport shooter. She is a nine-time Olympian and has won medals on three occasions. At age 19 and competing for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics, she won a gold medal in the women's 25-metre sporting pistol competition and silver in the women's 10-metre air pistol competition. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, competing for Georgia, she added to her tally with a bronze medal, also in the 10-metre air pistol event.

Yusuf Dikeç is a Turkish sport shooter competing in the pistol events. A retired non-commissioned officer of the Turkish Gendarmerie, the 1.80 m tall athlete at 80 kg (180 lb) is a member of Jandarma Gücü Sports Club.

The European Shooting Championships are the continental championships for ISSF sport shooting disciplines in Europe, including 10m air rifle and air pistol, cartridge rifle and pistol. Sometimes the competition also includes trap shooting, skeet and running target shooting events, usually organized in special championships.

Nathalie Linda Larsson is a Swedish sport shooter. She won two gold medals in the women's skeet at the 2005 European Shooting Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, and at the 2009 European Shooting Championships in Osijek, Croatia, accumulating scores of 92 and 93 targets, respectively.

Hans-Jörg Meyer is a German sport shooter. He won a silver medal in the men's 50 m free pistol at the 2009 European Shooting Championships in Osijek, Croatia, accumulating a score of 653.8 targets.

Laura Georgeta Ilie, also known as Coman is a Romanian sport shooter. She won the gold medal in the women's rifle event at both the 2019 European 10 m Events Championships in Osijek, Croatia and 2020 European 10 m Events Championships in Wrocław, Poland.

Lazar Kovačević is a Serbian sports shooter. He won European Junior Championships silver medal in 2017 in Maribor and finished in fourth place in 10m air rifle at the 2018 Mediterranean Games in Tarragona.
