Giovanni Pellielo (born 11 January 1970) is an Italian sport shooter. He won the silver medal in Men's trap at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and also earned a bronze medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and a silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and 2016 Rio Olympics. [3]

Biography

Giovanni Pellielo is trained by the Olympic champion and technical commissioner of the Italian national team Albano Pera. [4] He won ten stages of the World Cup [5] and fifteen medals at the World Cup Final from 1992 to 2015. [6]

Since 2016, Pellielo has been an ordained bishop in the liberal Catholic Holy Celtic Church International. [7]

The ISSF World Shooting Championships are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. World Shooting Championships began in 1897, after the successful 1896 Summer Olympics, and although the ISSF was not founded until 1907, these early competitions are still seen by the organization as the beginning of a continuous row of championships. By this logic, the 2006 competition in Zagreb was called the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships. These championships, including all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years since 1954. For the shotgun events only, there is an additional World Championship competition in odd-numbered years. These extra competitions are not numbered. In running target, there will be World Championships in Olympic years.

By defending his title from Atlanta, Michael Diamond won the host country's only gold medal in the shooting competitions. Diamond was the second man to successfully defend an Olympic title in the trap. Ian Peel earned Great Britain's first men's trap medal since 1968. Italy's Giovanni Pellielo earned bronze.

Men's trap shooting was one of the fifteen shooting events at the 1996 Summer Olympics. The event took place at the Wolf Creek Shooting Complex on July 20th and 21st, 1996. There were 58 competitors from 41 nations, with each nation having up to three shooters. Michael Diamond of Australia won, setting two new Olympic records, ahead of two Americans. After the regular 150 targets, it took a marathon shoot-off to separate the silver and bronze medalists; after both shooters had hit 27 straight targets, Josh Lakatos hit his 28th while Lance Bade missed. It was the first medal in the men's trap for Australia; the United States had most recently been on the podium in the event in 1984.

Deborah Gelisio is a former Italian sport shooter who won a silver medal in Double trap at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

The men's trap event at the 2012 Olympic Games took place on 5 and 6 August 2012 at the Royal Artillery Barracks. There were 34 competitors from 27 nations. Massimo Fabbrizi of Italy took silver, the third consecutive silver and fourth Games on the podium for Italy. Giovanni Cernogoraz is a Croatian sports shooter. He is an Olympic, World and European champion in trap, as well as two-times European champion in team trap. Competing in shotgun events, he won the Olympic gold medal in men's trap at the London 2012 Summer Olympics. He was elected for Croatian Sportsman of the year by Sportske novosti in 2012.

Khaled Al-Mudhaf is a Kuwaiti sport shooter. He captured the men's trap title at the 2002 ISSF World Championships in Lahti, Finland, and finished in the top six respectively on two successive editions of the Olympic Games. Apart from his World championship title, Al-Mudhaf also collected fourteen more medals to his career record, including two from the Asian Games. Al-Mudhaf is a member of the Kuwait City Shooting Club, where he trains full-time under Russian-born coach Rustam Yambulatov.

Roberta Pelosi is an Italian sport shooter. She has been selected to compete for Italy at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and has established a career tally of eighteen medals in a major international competition, including a world-record breaking gold at the 1998 ISSF World Cup meet in Cairo, Egypt and a silver in women's trap at the 2003 World Shotgun Championships in Nicosia, Cyprus. Pelosi is a member of Valle Aniene Target Shooting Club, and a resident athlete of the Italian Clay Shooting Federation, where she trains under head coach and 1996 Olympic double trap medalist Albano Pera.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Shooting at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's trap</span> Olympic sport shooting event

The men's ISSF Olympic trap event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 28 and 29 July 2021 at the Asaka Shooting Range. Approximately 30 sport shooters from 20 nations are expected to compete in the trap, with the precise number depending on how many shooters compete in multiple events.
