Bob and Mike Bryan were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals to Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen.
Marray and Nielsen defeated Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecău in the final, 4–6, 6–4, 7–6(7–5), 6–7(5–7), 6–3 to win the gentlemen's doubles title at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. [1] Marray became the first British player to win the men's doubles title at Wimbledon since Pat Hughes and Raymond Tuckey in 1936. Nielsen is only the second Danish winner of a Grand Slam title, following his own grandfather, Kurt Nielsen, who won the mixed doubles at the 1957 U.S. National Championships.

Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić were the two-time defending champions, but lost in the second round to Chris Eaton and Dominic Inglot.
Bob and Mike Bryan successfully defended their title, defeating Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer in the finals 6–7(6–8), 6–2, [10–7]. The twin brothers set a record of 62 career doubles titles on the ATP Tour, surpassing The Woodies. Rojer, who was a UCLA tennis player (1999-2002), returned to play on his college home court.
Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse defeated Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the final, 6–4, 6–7(5–7), [10–7] to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2011 Indian Wells Masters.

Zimonjić played alongside Paul Hanley, but they lost to Bob and Mike Bryan in the quarterfinals, who won the tournament in the end against Marcel Granollers and Marc López 6–1, 4–6, [12–10].

Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock defeated the defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–7(3–7), 6–4, 3–6, 7–5 to win the gentlemen's doubles title at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships.

Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the final, 6–4, 6–4, to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2015 Australian Open. Bolelli and Fognini's victory earned them their first Grand Slam doubles title and their third title overall as a pair. They became the first all-Italian team to win a Grand Slam since Nicola Pietrangeli and Orlando Sirola at the 1959 French Open.

Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah defeated Nicolas Mahut and Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the final, 6–7(5–7), 7–6(7–5), 7–6(8–6), 6–7(5–7), 6–3 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. Cabal and Farah saved five match points en route to the title, against Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecău in the quarterfinals. With the win, they jointly attained the ATP number one doubles ranking; Mike Bryan, Łukasz Kubot and Bruno Soares were also in contention for the top ranking.
