The Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa is a football stadium in Leiria, Portugal, built as a venue for the UEFA Euro 2004 finals held in Portugal. It is the home for Leiria's main football club, União de Leiria. It was designed by Tomás Taveira in 2003. The stadium contains different coloured seats as well as an athletics track and has a capacity of 24 000. The stadium has also hosted the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in 2006 and 2007 and the final of the league cup Taça da Liga in 2009, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

União Desportiva de Leiria, commonly known as União de Leiria, is a Portuguese football club based in Leiria. Founded on 6 June 1966, it currently plays in the Liga Portugal 2, holding home matches at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, with a 23,888-seat capacity.

Group B of UEFA Euro 2004 was one of four groups in the final tournament's initial group stage. It began on 13 June and was completed on 21 June. The group consisted of defending champions France, England, Croatia and Switzerland.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2008 European Cup (athletics)</span>

The 29th and final SPAR European Cup took place in June 2008. Track and field events were held on 21 and 22 June 2008 at the Parc des Sports Stadium in Annecy, France. Other event venues included Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa in Portugal and facilities in Istanbul, Turkey, Kadriorg Stadium in Estonia and SNP Stadium in Slovakia, and facilities in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The Parc des Sports Annecy Stadium was also stadium for 1998 World Junior Championships in Athletics. It was the last edition of the European Cup which from 2009 has been replaced by European Team Championships combining the men and women competitions.

The first European Athletics Team Championships took place on 20 and 21 June 2009. The track and field athletics tournament run by European Athletics was the successor of the old European Cup competition which was held annually until 2008. The Championships saw a number of new rules introduced, which were criticised by some athletes and observers.

The 2009–10 Taça da Liga was the third edition of the Taça da Liga, also known as Carlsberg Cup for sponsorship reasons. The first matches were played on 1 August 2009. The final was played on 21 March 2009, with Benfica defeating Porto 3–0 to win their second Taça da Liga. The final was played at the Estádio Algarve, Faro.

The 2014 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 16 and 17 March at the Centro Nacional de Lançamentos and Estádio Municipal in Leiria, Portugal. It was the fourteenth edition of the athletics competition for throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association and the Federação Portuguesa de Atletismo. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes.

The 2014–15 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round was played on 9, 11 and 14 August 2014. A total of 32 teams competed in the qualifying round to decide 10 of the 32 places in the knockout phase of the 2014–15 UEFA Women's Champions League.

The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes. Leiria repeated as host, becoming the first place to do so in tournament history.

The 2018 European Throwing Cup is held on 10–11 March at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa and National Throwing Centre in Leiria, Portugal. It is the eighteenth edition of the athletics competition for throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes.

The 2020–21 Taça da Liga was the fourteenth edition of the Taça da Liga, a football league cup competition organised by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional and contested exclusively by clubs competing in the two professional divisions of Portuguese football – the top-tier Primeira Liga and the second-tier Liga Portugal 2. Due to calendar limitations derived from the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal, this season will follow a transitory format where only eight teams enter the competition.

The 2022–23 Taça da Liga was the sixteenth edition of the Taça da Liga, a football league cup competition organised by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional and contested exclusively by clubs competing in the top two professional tiers of Portuguese football – the Primeira Liga and the Liga Portugal 2.

The 2006 European Champion Clubs Cup (ECCC) in athletics was held in Valencia, Spain and Istanbul, Turkey, from 27 to 28 May.

The 2007 European Champion Clubs Cup (ECCC) in athletics was held in Albufeira, Portugal and Dubnica nad Váhom, Slovakia, from 25 to 26 May.
