The 2011 Kashima Antlers season was Kashima Antlers's 19th season in J.League Division 1 and 23rd season overall in the top flight. They finished 10th in the league, won the J.League Cup and were knocked out of the Emperor's Cup and AFC Champions League at the fourth round Semifinals respectively.

The 2018–19 Melbourne Victory FC season was the club's 14th season since its establishment in 2004. The club participated in the A-League for the 14th time and the AFC Champions League for the seventh time.

The 2018 season was Kashima Antlers's 26th consecutive season in the J1 League since professional football was established in Japan in 1993. In addition to the domestic league, the club also competed in the Emperor's Cup, J.League Cup, and AFC Champions League. They won the latter trophy securing their first ever Champions League trophy in their first appearance in the final.

The 2018 Kawasaki Frontale season is their 14th consecutive season in J1 League, they are defending champions after finishing top of the 2017 J1 League. They will also compete in the J.League Cup, Emperor's Cup, and AFC Champions League.

The 2019 season was Urawa Red Diamonds's 19th consecutive season in J1 League, after finishing 5th in the 2018 J1 League. The club also competed in the Emperor's Cup, J.League Cup, Japanese Super Cup and AFC Champions League. They reached the final of the latter competition, losing to Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia by a 0–3 aggregate score.

Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club is an Australian professional association football club based in Rooty Hill, New South Wales. They play in the A-League and their home ground is Bankwest Stadium. They have qualified for the AFC Champions League three times, in 2014, 2015 and 2017. They won in their first attempt, defeating Al Hilal SFC 1–0 over the two legged final, becoming the first Australian team to win the tournament. The 2023 J.League Cup, known as the 2023 J.League YBC Levain Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the 31st edition of J.League Cup, a Japanese association football cup competition. Opposed to the previous editions, the competition will not use the away goals rule. No byes awarded for the knockout stage and thus no knockout round playoffs.

The 2023 Sanfrecce Hiroshima season is their 85th season in existence and their 15th consecutive season in the J1 League. In addition to the league, the club will compete in the Emperor's Cup and J. League Cup. As the third-placed team on last season's J1 League, they would have been qualified to the 2023–24 AFC Champions League play-offs. However, on 6 May, they got denied of a participation on the continental spot as Urawa Red Diamonds won the 2022 AFC Champions League.
