NCAA Division I independent schools are teams that compete in NCAA ice hockey but are not members of a conference. There are several current schools who, at one time or another, competed as Division I independents.
Paul Pearl is an American ice hockey coach and former player. He was previously the associate head coach for Boston University, having also served as head coach for Holy Cross for 19 seasons.
The Holy Cross Crusaders women's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the College of the Holy Cross. The Crusaders are the newest member of the Hockey East Association (HEA). They play at the Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) is a women's college ice hockey conference in the United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as a hockey-only conference. As of the current 2022–23 season, the conference is made up of seven teams, with two each in Connecticut and New Hampshire, and one each in Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont. An eighth school in Massachusetts joined for administrative purposes in 2022, but will not start conference play until 2023.
The 2019–20 UMass Minutemen ice hockey season was the 88th season of play for the program, the 30th season competing at the Division I level, and the 26th season in the Hockey East conference. The Minutemen represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst and were coached by Greg Carvel, in his 4th season.
The 2019-20 UConn Huskies men's ice hockey season was the 60th season of play for the program, the 22nd at the Division I level, and the 6th season in the Hockey East conference. The Huskies represented the University of Connecticut and were coached by Mike Cavanaugh, in his 7th season.
The 2019-20 Merrimack Warriors Men's ice hockey season was the 65th season of play for the program, the 31st at the Division I level, and the 31st season in the Hockey East conference. The Warriors represented Merrimack College and were coached by Scott Borek, in his 2nd season.
The 2019–20 Army Black Knights men's ice hockey season was the 117th season of play for the program, the 110th at the Division I level, and the 17th season in the Atlantic Hockey conference. The Black Knights represented the United States Military Academy and were coached by Brian Riley, in his 16th season.
The 2019-20 Canisius Golden Griffins men's ice hockey season was the 40th season of play for the program, the 22nd at the Division I level, and the 17th season in the Atlantic Hockey conference. The Golden Griffins represented Canisius College and were coached by Trevor Large, in his 3rd season.
The 2019-20 Niagara Purple Eagles men's ice hockey season was the 24th season of play for the program, the 22nd at the Division I level, and the 10th season in the Atlantic Hockey conference. The Purple Eagles represented Niagara University and were coached by Jason Lammers, in his 3rd season.
