The 2022 WBSC Men's Softball World Championship was the 17th Men's Softball World Championship, an international softball tournament taking place in Auckland, New Zealand from 26 November to 4 December 2022. [1] Originally scheduled for February 2021, the tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2] New Zealand last hosted the tournament in 2013. It will be the 17th edition of the tournament.

Contents

Argentina were the defending champions, and lost the third place playoff to the United States. Australia defeated Canada 5–2 in the final to claim their second World Cup.

The match balls used for the 2022 tournament were the Mizuno M150 balls, which were also used in the Tokyo 2022 Olympics. Mizuno supplied 1,152 balls for the tournament. [26]

The Japan national baseball team, also known as Samurai Japan (侍ジャパン), is the national team representing Japan in international baseball competitions. The Women's Softball World Cup is a fastpitch softball tournament for women's national teams held historically every four years, now every two years, by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). The tournament, originally known as the ISF Women's World Championship, was sanctioned by the International Softball Federation (ISF) until that body's 2013 merger with the International Baseball Federation to create the WBSC. The teams of the member nations of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), baseball's world governing body, are ranked based on their tournament results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. A point system is used, with points being awarded based on the results of WBSC-recognized international tournaments. Under the existing system, rankings are based on a team's performance over the last four years, with major international tournaments awarded a higher weighting compared to minor international and continental tournaments.

The Men's Softball World Cup, known through 2015 as the ISF Men's World Championship, is a softball tournament for the best national men's teams in the world. From 1966 to 2013 it was held every four years, first by the International Softball Federation (ISF) and from 2019 an onward it is held every two years by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the 16 best teams in the world compete.

The 2018 Women's Softball World Championship was an international softball competition held in Chiba, Japan, from 2 August to 12 August. It was the 16th edition of the tournament, and the third edition to be sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). Previous editions were sanctioned by the International Softball Federation, which governed the sport until its 2013 merger with the International Baseball Federation to create the WBSC. As the winners, the United States earned the right to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was the last world title awarded under the championship format before the WBSC implemented the new world cup 4 year cycle.

Six teams qualified for the Olympic softball tournament, including Japan, which, as host nation, qualified automatically. The United States team won the 2018 Women's Softball World Championship to qualify for the Olympics. The remaining four spots were allocated through three qualification tournaments: one spot for a Europe/Africa tournament, one spot for an Asia/Oceania tournament, and two spots for an Americas tournament.

In this article are the confirmed national softball squads for the 2022 Men's Softball World Championship, to be held in Auckland, New Zealand between, 26 November and 4 December 2022. Each team must name a roster of 12 to 16 players. The final squad lists were confirmed by World Baseball Softball Confederation on the 26 November 2022 before the tournament commenced.

The 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will be the 18th Women's Softball World Cup, an international softball tournament taking place in Balbriggan, Ireland; Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy and Valencia, Spain. The group stage will take place from 11–26 July 2023, held as three separate groups across three nations. The finals will take place in Buttrio and Castions di Strada, Italy from 15–20 July 2024. This is the first WBSC event to be held in two stages. It will be the first time Ireland, Italy and Spain have hosted a major softball tournament. It also the first time more than one nation has hosted the tournament. The United States are the defending champions.

The 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup will be the 9th Women's Baseball World Cup, an international baseball tournament taking place in Thunder Bay, Canada, and one other to be determined location. The group stage will take place from 8-13 August 2023 as two separate tournaments in two separate locations. The finals will take place in Thunder Bay, Canada in 2024. This is the first Women's Baseball World Cup event to be held in two stages. It will be the third time Canada has hosted the tournament. It is also the first time more than one nation has hosted the tournament. Japan are the defending champions.

The U-23 Men's Softball World Cup is the softball world championship tournament for World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) members’ men's national teams with players under the age of 23, held every four years. The competition will have its inaugural tournament in 2023 in Argentina.

The 2023 U-23 WBSC Men's Softball World Cup is the inaugural U-23 Men's Softball World Cup, an international softball tournament taking place in Paraná, Argentina from 15 to 23 April 2023. Originally scheduled for October 2022, the tournament was postponed due to a number of reasons. The bidding process was reopened and once again awarded to Paraná in Argentina.

Group A of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will take place from 11 to 15 July 2023 in Balbriggan, Republic of Ireland. The group consists of host nation Ireland, Chinese Taipei, United States, Great Britain, Australia and Botswana. The United States and Australia advanced to the Finals to be held in 2024, with the United States going undefeated winning all four of their games.

Group B of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will take place from 18 to 22 July 2023 in Valencia, Spain. The group consists of host nation Spain, China, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Netherlands and South Africa.

Group C of the 2024 Women's Softball World Cup will take place from 22 to 26 July 2023 in Castions di Strada and Buttrio, Italy. The group consists of host nation Italy, Japan, Canada, Venezuela, New Zealand and Philippines. Japan and Canada advanced to the Finals to be held in 2024. Italy also advanced to the Finals as host/wildcard.

Group A of the 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup will take place from 8 to 13 August 2023 in Thunder Bay, Canada. The group consists of host nation Canada, United States, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Mexico. United States won the group qualifying for the finals along with hosts Canada. Mexico finished in third and earned a wildcard spot for the finals.

Group B of the 2024 Women's Baseball World Cup will take place from 13 to 18 September 2023 in Miyoshi, Japan. The group consists of host nation Japan, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico and France.

The 2023 Men's Softball Oceania Championship was the inaugural edition of the Men's Softball Oceania Championship, the international men's softball championship of Oceania organized by WBSC Oceania. The top two teams qualified for the 2025 Men's Softball World Cup.
