The 2023 World Karate Championships was held from 24 to 29 October 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. [1] [2] [3]
The visas of 21 Iranian karateka were not issued for various reasons. [4] These karatekas were present in the men's kata and the women's committee. [5] [6]

Majid Abdolhosseini is a retired professional Iranian karateka. In 1995, Abdolhosseini won a gold medal in the Philippines and another gold medal in Macau in 2005.
Anita Arturivna Serogina is a Ukrainian karateka competing in the kumite 61 kg division and coach. She started karate training at the age of eleven with the coach Tonkoshkur Olexandr.
Mohammad Mahdi Jafari is an Iranian karateka, a previous member of National Iranian Karate Team and managing director of 21st Century Cinematic “Cultural & Artistic Institute”.
Pegah Zangeneh Karkooti is an Iranian karateka and coach. She began karate training at age eight with her first coach, Maryam Moshiri, at Milad Club in Kermanshah. She then continued karate training under the supervision of her brother, Babak Zangeneh. She won the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games Bronze medal. Currently, she is one of the Iranian karate national female team's coaches.
Ali Zand is an Iranian karateka. was born in 1999 in Arak. Karate can be seen from the age of four under the supervision of his coach and he is active in the Shitorio style. He has been in the national team camps since 2008, and together with his teammates won the first Iranian Men's Kata Team Adult Medal in the Karate World Championships in Madrid in 2018.
Irina Zaretska is a Ukrainian and Azerbaijani karateka. She won the silver medal in the women's +61 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. She is a three-time gold medalist in the women's 68 kg event at the World Karate Championships. Zaretska is also a two-time gold medalist in this event at the Islamic Solidarity Games and the European Games.
Mattia Busato is an Italian karateka. He is a four-time bronze medalist at the World Karate Championships. He is also the gold medalist in the men's individual kata event at the 2014 European Karate Championships held in Tampere, Finland.

Grace Lau Mo-sheung is a Hong Kong karateka. She won bronze in the women’s kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, becoming the first Hong Kong athlete to win an Olympic medal in karate. She is a three-time medallist in the women's individual kata event at the World Karate Championships. She is also a medallist in this event at the Asian Games and the World Beach Games. She is a six-time medalist, including gold, at the Asian Karate Championships.
Károly Gábor Hárspataki is a Hungarian karateka. He won one of the bronze medals in the men's 75 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He won the silver medal in the men's 75 kg event at the 2023 World Karate Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.
Eray Şamdan is a Turkish karateka competing in the kumite. He won the silver medal in the men's 67 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.

Seyed Ali Mousavi Noor is an Iranian karateka The athlete who won the gold medal in the 2021 Asian Karate Championship. Mousavi is a member of Iran's men's national karate team in various categories. He won his first official medal in 2021 in the national team championship of Zanjan province. Mousavi is originally from the city of Ramhormoz.
Seyed Moein Taghavi, also known as Moein Taghavi, is an Iranian wushu athlete. Taghavi has a record of winning domestic competitions, Asian championships and world championships. He also won a gold medal in the Wushu World Cup and won the championship title, but due to the positive announcement of his doping test, the medal won was lost for Taghavi.
