The 2023–24 season was Aizawl's 40th competitive season and its seventh competitive season in the I-League, India's top-flight professional football league. [1] [2] [3] [4] Aizawl lost the opening match of their season to Mohammedan on 29 January 2023. [5] Their last two games of the season, to be played at home, were cancelled after their opponents TRAU and NEROCA refused to travel to Aizawl citing security concerns. [6]

Managerial changes

On 2 September 2023, the club appointed Erol Akbay as its head coach for the season. [7] Although they have seen their head coach Erol Akbay leave after the first match against Mohammedan SC by mutual agreement. [8] A day later, B. Malsawmzuala was appointed as interim head coach. On 23 January 2024, the club appointed Stojkoski Bobi as head coach for rest of the season. [9]

On 30 June 2023, the organization committee announced that Gokulam is participating in the Asia's oldest football tournament,Durand cup. The organizers of the 132nd Durand Cup football tournament announced the groups for the 24-participating teams, with defending champions Bengaluru clubbed with two popular Kerala sides Kerala Blasters and 2019 champions Gokulam Kerala in Group C, to be held in Kolkata. The Indian Air Force is the fourth side in the group. On 05th august 2023, gokulam announced 22 member squad for durand cup Gokulam kerala confirmed their Participation in Super cup along with other 5 I-league clubs. On 31 March, it was announced that GKFC had sacked head coach Domingo oramas following their defeat to Delhi FC.

The 2023–24 season was the seventh season in Real Kashmir FC's existence, and their sixth season in I-League. Their first match of the season was played on 28 October 2023 and their last on 13 April 2024, in 1–4 defeat away from home against Namdhari. Real Kashmir finished fifth in the league. Their captain Muhammad Hammad received the Jarnail Singh Award for Best Defender of the season.

The 2023–24 season was the 58th season of NEROCA FC in existence and seventh season in the I-League.

The 2023–24 season was the 36th season of Churchill Brothers in existence and fifteenth in the I-League. A new coach for the team, Edgardo Malvestiti, was appointed on 29 July 2023. The club has mutually parted ways with the head coach from Argentina after finding themselves in the bottom half of the I-League midway into the season. Francesc Bonet replaced him in January 2024.

The 2023–24 season was the first season of Inter Kashi in existence. The club participated in the I-League, the second level of Indian football.
