  2023 Seasons 2025

The 2024 Baltimore Orioles season was the 124th season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 71st in Baltimore, and the 33rd at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They entered the season as the defending AL East champions.

Contents

The ballclub announced its first-ever jersey sponsorship deal with T. Rowe Price on June 10, 2024. A circular dark blue, aqua and white sleeve patch with the investment management firm's bighorn sheep logo debuted in a home game against the Atlanta Braves the following night on June 11. [1] [2]

On September 24, the Orioles clinched a return to the postseason for the second straight season, [3] the first time in 27 years they had been to the postseason in consecutive seasons. [4] They were swept by the Kansas City Royals in the 2024 American League Wild Card Series, the second time the Orioles were swept in a postseason series by the Royals after the 2014 ALCS.

Offseason

The Orioles finished the 2023 season as AL East division champions and the top seed in the AL, but were swept by the Texas Rangers in the 2023 American League Division Series.

On September 28, 2023, it was reported that the Orioles came to an agreement with the City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland on a 30-year lease agreement with two five-year options that can extend the lease into the 2060s. [5] Negotiations on the team's stadium lease were finalized in December 2023, which transferred responsibility for stadium operations and maintenance to the Orioles and reworked the team's rent payment terms, but postponed an agreement on the team's ground lease and redevelopment plans until 2027 following concerns from Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson. The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore. The Orioles compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the American League (AL) East Division. As one of the American League's eight charter teams in 1901, the franchise spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis to become the St. Louis Browns in 1902. After 52 years in St. Louis, the franchise was purchased in 1953 by a syndicate of Baltimore business and civic interests, led by attorney and civic activist Clarence Miles and Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro Jr. The team's current owner is David Rubenstein. The Orioles' home ballpark is Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which opened in 1992 in downtown Baltimore. The oriole is the official state bird of Maryland; the name has been used by several baseball clubs in the city, including another AL charter member franchise which folded after the 1902 season and was replaced the next year by the New York Highlanders, later the Yankees. Nicknames for the team include the "O's" and the "Birds".

The 2023 Baltimore Orioles season was the 123rd season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 70th in Baltimore, and the 32nd at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Orioles improved on their 83–79 season from 2022, with their 84th win coming on September 2. On September 4, after the Orioles defeated the Los Angeles Angels, they established a new American League record by surpassing the 1922–24 New York Yankees with 84 consecutive series of two-plus games of not being swept. The Orioles tied their win total from 2016 with their win over the Red Sox on September 8, and the win against the St. Louis Cardinals on September 11 ensured that the Orioles won at least one game against all MLB opponents in the regular season. The Orioles clinched a playoff spot with the Texas Rangers' loss on September 17, shortly before their own win over the Tampa Bay Rays. This was Baltimore's first postseason appearance since 2016. On September 28, the Orioles clinched the division title for the first time since the 2014 season, and just the second time since 1997. The win on September 28 also ensured the Orioles would win 100 or more games for the first time since 1980. In the playoffs, the Orioles were upset by the eventual World Series champion Texas Rangers in the ALDS, being swept in 3 games.
