The 2024 Cleveland Guardians season is the 124th season for the franchise, which competes in the American League of Major League Baseball (MLB). This is the franchise's third season using the name "Guardians" and the first season under manager Stephen Vogt after previous manager Terry Francona stepped down at the conclusion of the previous season. The season opened on March 28, 2024 on the road against the Oakland Athletics and is scheduled to end on September 29, 2024 at home against the Houston Astros. [1]

The 2010 Cleveland Indians season marked the 110th season for the franchise, with the Indians attempting to improve on their fourth-place finish in the American League Central in 2009. The team played all of its home games at Progressive Field. In addition, this was the second season for the Indians playing their spring training games in Goodyear, Arizona. Manny Acta took over as the manager in 2010, after the Indians fired Eric Wedge at the end of his seventh season managing the Indians. Acta was formerly the manager of the Washington Nationals. Fausto Carmona represented the team at the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
The 2013 Toronto Blue Jays season was the 37th season of Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays franchise, and the 24th full season of play at the Rogers Centre. Despite high expectations heading into the season, the Blue Jays finished 74–88, in last place in the American League East.
The 2014 Baltimore Orioles season was the 114th season in franchise history, the 61st in Baltimore, and the 23rd at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Birds would finish in first place in the American League East Division and return to the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, claiming their first division championship since 1997. The Indians played all of their home games at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the last season in which the Indians logo Chief Wahoo was used on uniforms or on stadium signs. They won their third straight American League Central title before being swept by the defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the ALDS. Due to the Indians losing to the Astros, the Indians became the fifth team in MLB history to have a 70 year title drought.

The Phillies improved from their record the prior year and finished with an 81–81 record for the first time since 2012, but missed the playoffs for the eighth straight season, despite spending nearly $400 million in the offseason.
The 2021 New York Mets season was the franchise's 60th season, the team's 13th season at Citi Field, and their first season under new majority owner Steve Cohen. The Mets began the 2021 season 35–25 and held first place in the National League East at the All-Star break. The Mets stumbled along the way, losing first place in early August to the Atlanta Braves. On September 25, the Mets were eliminated from playoff contention in a 2–1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, continuing a five-year-long playoff drought. The Mets spent 103 days in first place, marking the most days in MLB history a team has been in first and finished with a losing record. The Mets finished the regular season 77–85, giving them a third place finish. On October 4, Luis Rojas was declined his club option as manager, following the conclusion of the regular season. Their division rival, Atlanta Braves, went on to win the World Series to leave the Mets as the only NL East team to not win the title in the 21st century.
