Amalapuram railway station is a railway station currently under construction located in Amalapuram, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh, India. [1] It will serve as a vital link connecting the cities and villages between Narasapuram and Kakinada once completed and it is owned by Indian Railways. [2]
The project was sanctioned in the year 2000–2001 for a distance of 57 kilometers. The proposed alignment traverses through the towns and villages of the Konaseema region. The new railway line will connect Magam, Amalapuram, Peruru, Pasarlapudi, Jaggannapeta, and Razole towns. [3]
The detailed project report was sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs. 2,120 crores. From 2014–19 until now, an expenditure of Rs. 323 crores has been incurred on this project. [4] The financial year-wise expenditure incurred on this project is as follows: Rs. 1.33 crore in 2014 –15, Rs. 3.39 crore in 2015 –16, Rs. 184.64 crore in 2016 –17, Rs. 60.51 crore in 2017–18, and Rs. 73.39 crore until December 2018–19. The completion of the Kakinada-Kotipalli Railway line, undertaken at a cost of Rs 111 crore, was facilitated by the former Lok Sabha Speaker G.M.C. Balayogi. It provides an alternative route to alleviate congestion on the Grand Trunk route, catering to increased goods and passenger traffic. The existing main railway line faces challenges in meeting the demands of cargo transportation due to heavy passenger traffic. By linking the main railway line with Kakinada through Pithapuram, the Kakinada-Narasapuram railway line will play a vital role in carrying cargo from ports and other trades, effectively reducing pressure on the main line. The Kakinada-Kotipalli railway line, which extends from Narasapuram in West Godavari district through Amalapuram in the Konaseema area, serves as a significant alternative cargo corridor for South Central Railway and East Coast Railway. [7] This railway line connects four ports: Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Kakinada, and Machilipatnam, with plans for further extension to Chennai via Krishnapatnam.

The West Godavari district is a coastal district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh with an administrative headquarters in Bhimavaram. The Hyderabad Multi-Modal Transport System, commonly abbreviated as MMTS, is a suburban rail system in Hyderabad, India. The Silver Line is a proposed higher-speed rail line in India that would connect Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city, and Kasaragod of Kerala state. It will have an operating speed of 200 kilometres per hour (120 mph), Maximum Design Speed: 220 km/h (140 mph), structures designed for 250 km/h (160 mph) allowing trains to cover the 532-kilometre (331 mi) distance in less than four hours, compared to the present 10 to 12 hours it takes to traverse this distance. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Tirur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod will be the stations in this corridor. The project is temporarily halted by the state government till the Central government approval.

The Delhi–Panipat Regional Rapid Transit System is an approved, 103 km (64 mi) long, semi-high speed rail corridor connecting Delhi, Sonipat, and Panipat in the National Capital Region. It is one of the three RapidX corridors planned under Phase-1 of the Rapid Rail Transport System of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). With maximum speed of 160 km/h and average speed of 120 km/h, commuters using the system will be able to cover the distance between Panipat and Delhi in 65 minutes. The project is expected to cost ₹ 21,627 crores.
The Blue Line or ORR-Airport Metro Line is part of the Namma Metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It consists of two sections - Phase-2A and Phase-2B. Construction of Phase-2A began in August 2021. Construction of Phase-2B began in February 2022. The 58.19 km line connects Central Silk Board with the Kempegowda International Airport. The Line is mostly elevated but also has an at-grade (surface) section close to the Airport and 2 short underground sections where it passes the Jakkur Aerodrome and Yelahanka AFB. There are 30 stations on the line of which the two station/s at the Airport may be at surface level or underground. Blue Line will have interchanges with the Yellow Line at Central Silk Board, Purple Line at KR Pura, Pink Line at Nagawara and with the future /proposed Orange Line at Hebbal.
Konaseema district, is one of the 26 districts in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is situated between the tributaries of the Godavari river in the Konaseema region of Coastal Andhra. It was carved out of East Godavari district on 4 April 2022 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Amalapuram is the district headquarters and the largest city in this district. The district shares boundaries with West Godavari, East Godavari and Kakinada districts.
The Kothapalli–Manoharabad line is a single-track broad-gauge railway line under construction in the Indian state of Telangana. Its purpose is to reduce the distance from Karimnagar to Hyderabad and provide railway connectivity to districts such as Siddipet and Sircilla. The line will connect Manoharabad to Kothapally in the South Central Railway zone.
