Rinko Kikuchi is a Japanese actress. She was the first Japanese actress to be nominated for an Academy Award in 50 years, for her work in Babel (2006). Kikuchi's other notable films include Norwegian Wood (2010), which screened in competition at the 67th Venice Film Festival and Guillermo del Toro's science fiction action film Pacific Rim (2013). Cliff Walkers, previously titled Impasse in English, is a 2021 Chinese historical spy thriller film directed by Zhang Yimou and written by Quan Yongxian. It was selected as the Chinese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.

Spiritwalker is a 2021 South Korean mystery action fantasy film, written and directed by Yoon Jae-geun. Starring Yoon Kye-sang, Park Yong-woo and Lim Ji-yeon, the film revolves around an amnesiac man who subsequently wakes up in a new body every twelve hours. It had its premiere at the 20th New York Asian Film Festival on August 22, 2021, and was released theatrically on November 24, 2021, in South Korea.

<i>Ring Wandering</i> 2021 Japanese fantasy drama film

Ring Wandering is a 2021 Japanese fantasy drama film, written and directed by Masakazu Kaneko. Starring Sho Kasamatsu, Junko Abe, Reiko Kataoka and Ken Yasuda, the film revolves around a young manga artist who is planning to write a manga about Japanese wolves. It had its premiere at 37th Warsaw Film Festival on October 8, 2021, now it was theatrically released in Japan on 19 February 2022. The film won Golden Peacock at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in November 2021.

Asian Film Award for Best New Director has been awarded annually since 2018 by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.
