Rinko Kikuchi is a Japanese actress. She was the first Japanese actress to be nominated for an Academy Award in 50 years, for her work in Babel (2006). Kikuchi's other notable films include Norwegian Wood (2010), which screened in competition at the 67th Venice Film Festival and Guillermo del Toro's science fiction action film Pacific Rim (2013). The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) is a worldwide organization of 29 member countries. It was created as the result of a conference on Asian cinema organized by Cinemaya, the Asian Film Quarterly, in New Delhi in 1990 at the instance and with the support of UNESCO, Paris.

Sun Children, also known as The Sun, is a 2020 Iranian drama film co-produced, co-written and directed by Majid Majidi. It was presented in competition at the 77th Venice International Film Festival, where child actor Rouhollah Zamani won the Marcello Mastroianni Award. Cliff Walkers, previously titled Impasse in English, is a 2021 Chinese historical spy thriller film directed by Zhang Yimou and written by Quan Yongxian. It is set in the Imperial Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo in the 1930s before World War II erupts. It was selected as the Chinese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.

Ring Wandering is a 2021 Japanese fantasy drama film, written and directed by Masakazu Kaneko. Starring Sho Kasamatsu, Junko Abe, Reiko Kataoka and Ken Yasuda, the film revolves around a young manga artist who is planning to write a manga about Japanese wolves. It had its premiere at 37th Warsaw Film Festival on October 8, 2021, now it was theatrically released in Japan on 19 February 2022. The film won Golden Peacock at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in November 2021.
