Belize and India maintain warm diplomatic relations. [1] [2] Belize has an honorary consulate in New Delhi, and India has an honorary consulate in Belize City, under the jurisdiction of its embassy in Mexico City. [1] Belize and India are both member states of the Commonwealth of Nations, and support each other on most issues on international fora. [1] Belize and India also engage in dialogue through the Central American Integration System (SICA) that the former is a member of, on issues such as anti-terrorism, climate change and food security.
Several high-level visits between leaders of Belize and India have taken place. [3]
Bilateral trade between Belize and India totaled US$45.4 million in 2013, up from US$23 million in the previous year. India exported $23 million worth of goods to Belize, and imported $22.4 million worth of commodities in 2013. The main commodities exported from India to Belize are textiles, organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and auto parts. The main imports from Belize are miscellaneous chemical products. [3]
On 18 September 2013, Belize and India signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement in Belmopan. [4]
India has often provided Belize with aid in the aftermath of natural disasters. India also provides Belize with a line of credit of US$30 million, as part of its foreign aid program for SICA countries. [3]
India donated Bajaj 3-wheelers, medicines, cricket equipment, and computers to the India Belize Friendship Computer Centre in St. John's College. In 2013, India sent a senior IPS officer to serve for a one-year period as Adviser to the Commissioner of Police of Belize, based on a request from the Belizean Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has also requested India to open a Vocational Training Centre in Belize City. [3]
Citizens of Belize are eligible for scholarships under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. [3]

The Belize Indian Merchants Association (BIMA) based in the Corozal Free Trade Zone, and the Belize Indian Community (BIC) based in Belize City, are two Indian community organisations in Belize. Both organisations have temples in Belize, which also serve as community centres. [3]
The Indian community in Belize dates back to the mid-nineteenth century. They migrated from the Caribbean over a period of about 150 years and have been completely assimilated into the local culture. They are referred to in Belize as Asian Indians or East Indians. As of January 2016, over 1,500 Indians reside in Belize, of which 200 are Indian citizens and the rest are persons of Indian origin. Most of the community is engaged in business and are of Sindhi origin. [3]
Asian Indians constitute approximately four per cent of the population of Belize. [5] As of January 2016, there were 7,000-8,000 Asian Indians in Belize. [3]
Belize maintains 14 embassies to foreign countries, one consulate, and three missions to international organizations. In 1990, Belize became a member of the Organization of American States, and the Commonwealth of Nations in 1981.
India–South Sudan relations are the bilateral ties between the Republic of India and the Republic of South Sudan. India recognised South Sudan on 9 July 2011, the day South Sudan became an independent state. India maintains an embassy at Juba, and South Sudan maintains an embassy in New Delhi.
Diplomatic relations between India and Paraguay were established in 1961.
Cuba–India relations are the bilateral ties between the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of India.
India is represented in Uruguay through its embassy in Buenos Aires in Argentina; it also has a consulate general in Montevideo. Uruguay has an embassy in New Delhi and a consulate in Mumbai. Diplomatic relations were established in 1948. The Uruguayan embassy in New Delhi was first opened in 1960 and operated until 1975. It was re-opened in 1998. In May 2010, Uruguayan ambassador to India Cesar Ferrer requested India to open an embassy in Montevideo.
Barbados–India relations are the international relations that exist between Barbados and India. The Embassy of India in Paramaribo, Suriname is concurrently accredited to Barbados. India also maintains an Honorary Consulate in Holetown.
India-Nicaragua relations are the bilateral relations between India and Nicaragua. Relations have been limited to Central American Integration System dialogue and visits by Nicaraguan Ministers to India. India maintains an honorary consul general in Nicaragua, concurrently accredited to the Indian embassy in Panama City and Nicaragua used to maintain an embassy in India. It was reduced to an honorary consulate general in New Delhi.
India–Suriname relations are the international relations that exist between India and Suriname. Indo-Surinamese form the largest ethnic group in Suriname, making 27.4% of the population. The current President of Suriname Chan Santokhi is of Indo-Surinamese descent.
Costa Rica–India relations refers to the international relations that exist between Costa Rica and India. Costa Rica has an embassy in New Delhi whilst India has a non resident ambassador in Panama.
El Salvador–India relations refers to the international relations that exist between El Salvador and India. El Salvador maintains an embassy in New Delhi and an honorary consulate in Bangalore. The Embassy of India in Guatemala is jointly accredited to El Salvador. India also maintains an honorary consulate in San Salvador.
India–North Macedonia relations are the bilateral relations between India and North Macedonia.
Gabon–India relations are the international relations that exist between Gabon and India. Gabon maintains an embassy in New Delhi. The Embassy of India in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo is jointly accredited to Gabon. India also maintains an honorary consulate in Libreville.
The international relations between Guinea and India have been cordial and friendly. India maintained an embassy in Conakry, but shut it down after more than 2 decades of operation in 1988. Subsequently, the Embassy of India in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire was jointly accredited to Guinea. Guinea opened its embassy in New Delhi in April 2012. India has maintained an honorary consul in Guinea since 1989.
Burkina Faso–India relations refers to the international relations that exist between Burkina Faso and India. Burkina Faso maintains an embassy in New Delhi. India maintained an embassy in Ouagadougou from November 1996 until its closure in July 2002. Currently, India maintains an honorary consulate in Ouagadougou, which functions under the jurisdiction of the High Commission of India in Accra, Ghana.
Comoros–India relations are the international relations that exist between Comoros and India. The Embassy of India in Antananarivo, Madagascar is concurrently accredited to Comoros. India also maintains an Honorary Consulate General in Moroni. Comoros maintains an Honorary Consulate in New Delhi.
East Timor–India relations are the international relations that exist between East Timor and India. The Embassy of India in Jakarta, Indonesia is concurrently accredited to East Timor. East Timor has no diplomatic representation in India.
India–Mauritania relations are the international relations that exist between the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Neither country has a resident ambassador.
India–Tuvalu relations are the international relations that exist between India and Tuvalu. The High Commission of India in Suva, Fiji is concurrently accredited to Tuvalu. Tuvalu maintains an Honorary Consulate General in New Delhi.
The high commissioner of India in Georgetown, Guyana is concurrently accredited to Antigua and Barbuda. Antigua and Barbuda maintains an honorary consulate general in New Delhi.
Honduras–India relations refers to the international relations that exist between Honduras and India. The Ambassador of India in Guatemala City is concurrently accredited to Honduras. India also maintains an Honorary Consul General in Tegucigalpa. Honduras is accredited to India from its embassy in Kuwait City.
