The Birthday Cup (also referred to as the Birendra Memorial Cup in the 2002 edition) was an association football competition organised to mark the birthday of King Birendra of Nepal in 1974. After the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy, the tournament has since been axed. [1]

Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was the King of Nepal for three days from 1 to 4 June 2001. For the duration of his three day reign he was in a coma after he shot his father, King Birendra, his mother, Queen Aishwarya, his younger brother and sister, and other members of the royal family before turning the gun on himself in an event known as the Nepalese royal massacre.
Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was the tenth Shah Ruler and the King of Nepal from 1972 until his assassination in 2001 by his son Dipendra. He was the eldest son of King Mahendra.

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya is a military boarding high school in Nepal, formerly known as Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya and Suping Campus. The Nepalese royal massacre occurred on 1 June 2001 at the Narayanhiti Palace, the then-residence of the Nepalese monarchy. Nine members of the royal family, including King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya, were killed in a mass shooting during a gathering of the royal family at the palace. A government-appointed inquiry team named Crown Prince Dipendra as perpetrator of the massacre. Dipendra slipped into a coma after shooting himself.

Birendra Shah was a print and broadcast journalist for the Nepal FM, Dristi Weekly, and Avenues TV in Bara, Nepal. Shah was kidnapped October 4/5, 2007, by Communist Party of Nepal Maoists from Pipara Bazaar, Kalaiya, Bara, Nepal, and found dead one month later. The CPN(M) later issued a statement confirming his death.
