Bish, stylized as BiSH, was a Japanese alternative idol girl group that was founded in 2015 by their manager Junnosuke Watanabe. The group was conceived as a successor to Bis, an idol group managed by Watanabe that disbanded in 2014. They disbanded in June 2023.
Bish was initially announced in January 2015 with the idea to begin Bis again, and auditions began that month in order to find members. [1] [2] After the audition process, the completed lineup was announced in March, and members Yukako Love Deluxe, Cent Chihiro Chittiii, Aina the End, Hug Mii, and Momoko Gumi Company were revealed to the public. The members' eyes were obscured with black contact lenses and could not be revealed until they each attained 4,444 followers on Twitter. [3]
Their first song "Spark", from the album Brand-New Idol Shit , was released through the music site Ototoy as a free download: first as a demo version with vocals by their manager, then the finished version was released one week later. At that time, Yukako Love Deluxe chose to withdraw from the group before their official debut. In an interview with Ototoy, she cited reasons of stress and anxiety in relation to her withdrawal. She had recorded vocals for all tracks on the album, so her parts had to be re-recorded before its release. [4] Her voice was retained, however, on "Spark".
Bish released a music video for the song "Bish - Hoshi ga Matataku Yoru ni" in April. As the release of the album drew closer, Bish began to release more of its songs as free downloads. By 21 May, just six days before its official release date, all 13 of the album tracks were available for free. [5] This did not harm album sales, however, and their first album reached the 20th position on Oricon's Weekly Album Chart. [6]
On 31 May, Bish held their first solo concert, "This Is For Bis", at Nakano Heavy Sick Zero. Though venue's capacity was merely 80 people, it was chosen for its significance, being the venue where BiS' first one-man was held. During the show, the members announced an audition to recruit more members, and a single to be released in September. [7]
In August, Bish performed at the 2015 Tokyo Idol Festival. However, due to their fans and fans of their sister group POP (Period of Plastic 2 Mercy) failing to follow the rules of the festival during the groups' performances, both groups had all events on the second day cancelled. Footage from the festival that was broadcast on TV shows festival staff attempting to bring Bish's performance to a halt in the middle of a song.
On 5 August, two new Bish members were revealed: Lingling and Hashiyasume Atsuko, bringing the total number of members up to six. Just as the earlier members of the group, their profile photos were taken with black contact lenses. Their true faces could not be revealed until they gained more Twitter followers than Bish manager Junnosuke Watanabe. [8] However, Watanabe got bored of waiting and lowered the number to 5000 followers for both members, and their faces were revealed later that week.
On 14 August 2015, Bish revealed the music video for their first single, the Celtic metal song "OTNK", featuring the new members. On 2 October 2015 it was announced that Bish would release a second album with the title Full Metal Jacket. This was later changed to Fake Metal Jacket, and was released on 20 January 2016. Fake Metal Jacket was promoted with a music video for the song "Monsters", which originally appeared on their first album. Upon release, the album reached 5th place on the daily Oricon album charts.
On 19 January 2016, Bish announced at the final leg of their "Idol Is Shit" tour that they would have their major debut through the label Avex Trax in May 2016.
The group released the hardcore punk song "Deadman" as their major-label debut single on 5 May, billing the 99-second number as "(Probably) the shortest major debut song ever?!" The coupling track "earth" was composed by Tetsuya Komuro and the release was mastered by Tim Young. "Deadman" reached 5th position on the Oricon weekly singles chart, and shortly after its release, Bish announced the release of their major-label debut album in October 2016.
On 16 May 2016, member Hug Mii announced her withdrawal from Bish, citing family reasons as the cause. Her last performance was on 2 June.
On 1 August 2016, new member Ayuni D was revealed to the public. She made her debut with the group at the "TOKYO BiSH SHiNE repetition" event on 24 August, where they announced the title of their upcoming October album, Killer Bish .
Aina the End, the lead vocalist of the group, underwent surgery for vocal polyps at the end of 2016, which meant the group ended their activities for the year with the free concert "In The End". She returned in 2017, and Bish announced their single "Promise the Star" would be released later in the year.
Bish released their first mini-album, Giant Killers , on 28 June, featuring title track "Giant Killers" and "Shakai no Rule", the theme song for cartoon Heybot!, with lyrics written by Hashiyasume Atsuko. Certain editions of the album contain "Introducing Bish", a twelve-track compilation CD featuring new recordings of past Bish songs featuring vocals by Ayuni D.[ citation needed ]
On 4 November 2017, Bish had a surprise release of their second major-label album, The Guerrilla Bish , exclusively through Tower Records. The album was released at a price of ¥299 without any prior advertising, and the surprise edition is packaged without cover art or a lyrics booklet, a reference to Kanye West's sixth album Yeezus. [9] The music video for the lead song "My landscape" was filmed at the Mojave Air and Space Port's airplane graveyard in California, as was the photography for the album cover. [10] [11]
On 28 March 2018, Bish released the single "Paint It Black". The song was used as the second opening theme for the anime series Black Clover . [12]
On 3 July 2019, Bish released the single "More Than Like", which was used as the fourth and final opening theme of Fairy Tail's final season.[ citation needed ]
On 22 July 2020, the album Letters was released, considered the band's "major 3.5th" album, containing 7 tracks. [13]
On 4 August 2021, the album Going to Destruction was released. [14]
On 24 December 2021, Bish announced that they will disband in 2023. [15]
In 2022, Bish released a new single every month, starting with "Final Shits" and ending with "Zutto". [16]
On 8 February 2023, Bish announced that they had established Bish Co., Ltd. and audition project Bish The Next, with the purpose of producing their successor group. [17]
Bish's final single, "Bye-Bye Show", was released on March 22. [18] It features all four members of the rock band The Yellow Monkey; vocalist Kazuya Yoshii wrote and produced it, while the band's three instrumentalists performed the track. [19] Additionally, the single's B-side is a cover of The Yellow Monkey's 1996 song "Spark". [19]
Bish disbanded on 29 June 2023, at their final concert which was held at Tokyo Dome. [20]

Bis, also known as Brand-new idol Society, is a Japanese alternative idol girl group that was founded in 2010 by leader Pour Lui following a brief solo career. With music, performances and videos that are extremely different from the typical idol group, Bis have come to be known as alternative idols. They disbanded at Yokohama Arena on July 8, 2014. Exactly two years after their disbandment on July 8, 2016, Pour Lui, Kenta Matsukuma and Junnosuke Watanabe announced that Bis would reform under a new lineup including Pour Lui, and that auditions were going to be held. On March 30, 2019, Bis announced that they would disband at the end of their "Are You Ready To Go?" tour. On the same day, Watanabe announced that he would be holding closed auditions for a third generation of Bis, and the new and current members officially debuted at Tokyo Idol Festival on August 4, 2019.
Pour Lui is a Japanese singer known for her work as the founder and leader of the alternative idol group Bis. Pour Lui started her career in November 2009 as a solo singer, being promoted as a "new age rock icon". She released her debut album, The World Is Pour Lui's in 2010. She announced that she would be indefinitely suspending her solo career, and would be forming an idol group, which would eventually become Bis. She was one of only two original members remaining by the time Bis disbanded in July 2014. She was often seen as the "face" of the group, and was often supportive of the sometimes drastic and extreme measures that were used to gain the group publicity. This led to tensions between the members, most notably Yufu Terashima and Rina Yokoyama. Pour Lui formed the rock band Lui Frontic Akabane Japan in December 2013, with former members of The Storefront and Bis songwriter/producer Kenta Matsukuma. Once Bis disbanded, she focused her activities with the band until their disbandment in 2017. Two years after Bis' disbandment, Pour Lui relaunched the group with new members and remained a member until early 2018. Later that year she became a member of Billie Idle and remained a member until their disbandment at the end of 2019. She released her second album, The World Is Pour Lui's II, in 2020, and launched the new idol group Piggs.
Brand-New Idol Shit(stylized as Brand-new idol SHiT) is the debut album by Japanese idol group Bish released through the independent label Sub Trax on May 27, 2015. The album is the first physical release by the group. Songs from the album were posted for streaming on SoundCloud little by little on the group's account. By the time the album was released all tracks except "BiSH -Hoshi ga Matataku Yoru ni-", were available for streaming. The same songs were available for a limited time as free downloads on Ototoy.
Fake Metal Jacket is the second album by Japanese idol group Bish released through the independent label Sub Trax on January 20, 2016. The album is the first full album by the group to feature Lingling and Hashiyasume Atsuko, who joined the group on August 5, 2015. The album features four re-recorded versions of tracks from their first album, updated to feature the two new members. Like their debut album Brand-new idol Shit, songs from the album were posted for streaming on SoundCloud little by little on the group's account as well as being released as free downloads on Ototoy for a limited time. All new songs from the album were eventually streamable, and the music videos for both the new version of "MONSTERS", and "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" were uploaded on YouTube. Killer Bish is the third album by Japanese idol group Bish released through Avex Trax on October 5, 2016. The album is the first full album by the group to be released from a major label. The album is the first release to feature new member Ayuni D, who joined the group in August 2016 following the departure of Hug Mii. Unlike their independent label albums, songs from the album were not released as free downloads prior to release. However, the album was released in its entirety in digital format a month prior to the physical release. The first 24 hours of the digital release had all of the group's releases including KiLLER Bish priced at 300 yen. The album was preceded by the single "DEADMAN", released on May 4, 2016. The music video for the track "Orchestra" was posted on YouTube on September 9, followed by the video for "Hontou Honki (本当本気)" on October 5. RUKA from visual kei band Nightmare, a well known fan of Bish and BiS, provided the music for the track "IDOL is SHiT". The track title is an homage to BiS's album Idol is Dead while the track is an homage to the song "IDOL" from that album.
Giant Killers is the first EP by Japanese idol group Bish released through Avex Trax on June 28, 2017. The EP was released in 4 editions, with the Limited and "INTRODUCiNG BiSH" editions featuring a second disc titled "INTRODUCiNG BiSH", which is essentially a "Best Of" album. All tracks on the disc originally released before Ayuni D joined the group have been re-recorded with her vocals. The EP was released early through iTunes on June 9. Those that pre-ordered the iTunes edition of the EP on June 8 received both the EP and the "INTRODUCiNG BiSH" tracks for the price of 900 yen. The music video for the title track "GiANT KiLLERS" was released on YouTube on June 12, followed by the video for "Nothing." on July 31.
Billie Idle was a Japanese alternative idol girl group founded in 2015. They debuted on April 1, 2015, with the album, Idle Gossip. They disbanded at the end of 2019.
The Guerrilla Bish is the fourth album by Japanese idol group Bish released through Avex Trax on November 26, 2017. A simple CD version of the album was surprise released exclusive to Tower Records for two days from November 4~5, priced at 299 yen. The album was also digitally released through iTunes for one day on November 6 for 300 yen. The album was preceded by the single "Promise The Star", released on March 22, 2017, and the EP "GiANT KiLLERS", released on June 28, 2017. The music video for the track "My landscape" was posted on YouTube on November 4, followed by the music video for "SMACK baby SMACK" on November 30.
Gang Parade (ギャングパレード), stylized as GANG PARADE is a Japanese alternative idol girl group formed in 2014. In 2020, Gang Parade split into two groups: Go to the Beds and Paradises. They resumed activities in 2022.
ExWhyZ, formerly known as Empire, is a Japanese alternative idol girl group formed between WACK and Avex Trax in 2017. They have released six studio albums, five EPs, and five singles since their formation. They re-branded to ExWhyZ in 2022 and re-debuted under EMI Records.
Ayuni D (アユニ・D), stylized as AYUNi D, born on October 12, 1999, is a Japanese singer, member of Japanese rock band Pedro and former member of Japanese girl group Bish. She debuted as a solo artist under the name Aomushi in November 2021.
WACK is a Japanese music production company specialising in alternative idols. The company was founded by Junnosuke Watanabe in 2014, following the first disbandment of Bis and the formation of Pla2me.
Carrots and Sticks is the fifth album by Japanese idol group Bish released through Avex Trax on July 3, 2019. The album was released in three parts: Sticks on April 3, Carrots on May 3, and the full version on July 3. The two EPs contained four songs each, while the full version contained an additional six songs for a combined fourteen songs.
Mameshiba no Taigun (豆柴の大群), stylized as MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN, was a Japanese alternative idol girl group formed through the reality survival show Monster Idol which featured on TBS Television's variety show Wednesday's Downtown in 2019. They debuted on December 19, 2019, with "Restart". They ceased activities as Mameshiba no Taigun in January 2024 after merging with Tonai Bousho to form Mameshiba no Taigun Tonai Bousho a.k.a. MonsterIdol.
Aina the End, stylized as AiNA THE END, is a Japanese singer, actress, and idol. She is a former member of the idol group Bish.
"Paint It Black" is the fourth single by the Japanese girl group Bish, released on March 28, 2018, by Avex Trax. The song was used as the second opening theme song for the Black Clover anime television series. The single sold 39,000 copies in its first week of release and topped the Oricon Singles Chart.
ASP is a Japanese alternative idol girl group formed by WACK in 2021. They debuted with the studio album, Anal Sex Penis, on May 26, 2021.
Pedro is a Japanese rock band led by vocalist and bassist Ayuni D. Formed in 2018 as Ayuni D's solo project outside of Bish, she is currently supported by Hisako Tabuchi of Number Girl on guitar and Yumao of hitorie on drums. They released their debut EP in September 2018 and continued to release music until the end of 2021. Following a one and a half year hiatus, Pedro resumed activities in mid-2023 after Bish disbanded. They have released four studio albums, two EPs, and three singles.
"Bye-Bye Show" is the twenty-first and final single by the Japanese girl group Bish, released on March 22, 2023, by Avex Trax. The single sold 138,000 copies in its first week of release and topped the Oricon Singles Chart and Japan Hot 100.
Cent Chihiro Chittiii, also known as Cent and Chihiro Katō (加藤千尋), is a Japanese singer, idol and actor. She is a former member of the idol group Bish. She released her debut solo album, Per→cent→age, in August 2023.
