The house was originally built in the 15th century as a family residence, which was at the time a typical home of a distinguished local family. The more recent renovation works where commissioned in 1926 by the Magnifica Comunità di Cadore. The house museum was inaugurated, in the current form, in 1932. [2]
The house where Titian was born, in the late 15th century, possibly c. 1488–1490, has been rebuilt and restored several times over the ages, but it still maintains the look of an ancient house in the style of that region. Some walls are entirely covered in wood, the furniture is rustic and the atmosphere welcomes the visitor into the world of the painter remembered for his great works. [1]
This house-museum can be visited entirely and comprises two floors connected by a wooden staircase. On the ground floor there is a living room, where the visitors can admire reproductions of works of art and copies of autographed letters of Titian. It constitutes the starting point for the visitor, who can then visit more five characteristic rooms on the first floor. The kitchen does have a traditional fireplace. [1] [3]
Tiziano Vecellio, Latinized as Titianus, hence known in English as Titian, was an Italian Renaissance painter, the most important artist of Renaissance Venetian painting. He was born in Pieve di Cadore, near Belluno. During his lifetime he was often called da Cadore, 'from Cadore', taken from his native region.

The Entombment is a 1559 oil-on-canvas painting by the Venetian painter Titian, commissioned by Philip II of Spain. It depicts the burial of Jesus in a stone sarcophagus, which is decorated with depictions of Cain and Abel and the binding of Isaac. The painting measures 137 cm × 175 cm and is now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Titian made several other paintings depicting the same subject, including a similar version of 1572 given as a gift to Antonio Pérez and now also in the Prado, and an earlier version of c.1520 made for the Duke of Mantua and now in the Louvre.
Portrait of Lavinia Vecellio is an oil on wood portrait by Titian, from c. 1545. It is believed to depict his daughter Lavinia. It is held in the Museo di Capodimonte, in Naples.
The Gabriele d'Annunzio Birthplace Museum is located at 116 Corso Manthoné in Pescara and was declared a national monument in 1927. Francesco da Milano was an Italian painter from Lombardy. He was active between 1502 and 1548 and twenty of his works in oil-on-canvas and fresco survive in the hill-country of Treviso and Friuli, including a fresco cycle at Castello Roganzuolo. As a Lombard, some aspects of his style were influenced by Bernardo Zenale and Vincenzo Civerchio, though he was also influenced by Titian, who like him lived and worked in the "contrada de Piai" in Serravalle. Titian was preferred to Francesco by Serravalle's town council - Francesco had been the initial choice to paint the Serravalle Altarpiece.
