Rev. Delores L. McQuinn (born November 26,1954,in Henrico County,Virginia) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. She is a member of the Virginia House of Delegates,representing the 81st district,made up of parts of Chesterfield,Henrico,and Charles City Counties and the City of Richmond. She was previously a member of the Richmond City Council. [1] [2]
McQuinn studied at Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Union University. She is [update] an associate minister at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Richmond. [3]
McQuinn was a member of the Richmond School Board 1992–96,serving as vice chair. [2] [3]
McQuinn was elected to the Richmond City Council in a special election on April 6,1999,replacing Leonidas B. Young,II,who resigned in February,and Sherwood T. White,an interim appointment. She served as Vice-Mayor 2003–2004 and Vice-President of the Council 2007–2008. [4]
When Delegate Dwight Clinton Jones was elected Mayor of Richmond in November 2008,McQuinn ran for the Democratic nomination for his 70th district House seat. She defeated lawyer Carlos Brown for the nomination,and was unopposed in the general election on January 6,2009. [1] [5]
In the 2017 election,McQuinn faced a primary challenge from Alex Mejias. [6] [7]
McQuinn serves as the Chair of the Transportation Committee and as a member of the Education,Appropriations,and Rules. She also serves as the Chair of the Elementary and Secondary Subcommittee and as a member of the Compensation and General Government Subcommittee,Transportation and Public Safety Subcommittee in the Appropriations Committee. Additionally,McQuinn serves as a member of the Pre-K-12 Subcommittee in the Education Committee. [8]
Margaret L. "Maggie" McIntosh is an American politician from the state of Maryland. She was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1993 to 2023. She is a former Baltimore City Public School teacher who now chairs one of the six standing committees of the Maryland House of Delegates. A Democrat, she represented the state's 43rd district in Baltimore City. Following her retirement from the Maryland House of Delegates in 2023, McIntosh has worked as a senior consultant at the Cornerstone Government Affairs lobbying group.

Edward Emerson Lane was a Virginia lawyer and politician. As a Democrat, Lane represented Richmond, Virginia in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1954 until 1978, and also was his party's (unsuccessful) candidate for Attorney General of Virginia in 1977.
The 2021 Virginia attorney general election was held on November 2, 2021, to elect the next attorney general of Virginia. Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring attempted to win a third term. Herring initially planned to run for governor, but decided to run for re-election. Herring faced Republican nominee Jason Miyares in the general election. Herring conceded defeat at 5:02 PM EST the following day, November 3. Miyares became the first Cuban-American and Hispanic to be elected to statewide office in Virginia. Miyares was later sworn in on January 15, 2022.
The 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election took place on November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia Senate, to elect members of the 163rd Virginia General Assembly. All 100 delegates were elected to two-year terms from single-member districts. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023. Democrats gained 3 seats, winning back control with a 51–49 majority after having previously lost it in 2021.
The 2023 Virginia's 4th congressional district special election was a special election to the U.S. House of Representatives that was held to fill Virginia's 4th congressional district for the remainder of the 118th United States Congress. The seat became vacant after incumbent Democrat Donald McEachin died on November 28, 2022, of colorectal cancer. State Senator Jennifer McClellan was declared the victor shortly after the polls closed, winning in a landslide against her Republican opponent.
The 2025 Virginia lieutenant gubernatorial election will be held on November 4, 2025, to elect the lieutenant governor of Virginia. Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears has said she will not run for re-election to a second term in office, instead choosing to run for governor.
