The Speaker of the House of Representatives is the highest-ranking presiding officer of the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia. He is responsible for convening sessions of the Dewan Rakyat, organising debates, and examining the admissibility of petitions, bills, and amendments. In the absence of the Speaker, one of his deputies will take his place.

The Alliance Party was a political coalition in Malaysia. The Alliance Party, whose membership comprised United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), was formally registered as a political organisation on 30 October 1957. It was the ruling coalition of Malaya from 1957 to 1963, and Malaysia from 1963 to 1973. The coalition became the Barisan Nasional in 1973.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ronald Kiandee</span> Malaysian politician

Ronald Kiandee is a Malaysian politician. A member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and its Vice President since August 2020 and 2nd State Chairman of Sabah since December 2022, he has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beluran since November 1999. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021. He was reappointed to the same post for a second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob from August 2021 until the dissolution of the BN government in November 2022, when BN lost its reelection campaign in the 2022 general election. Prior to serving in the Cabinet, Kiandee was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration from 2018 to 2019 and Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat in the BN administration from 2008 to 2018. He is presently the sole Sabah BERSATU MP.

The Youth Parliament of Malaysia is a youth council and simulation of the parliamentary proceedings of the Parliament of Malaysia for youth aged between 18 and 25. The Youth Parliament give young people an insight into the workings of the Parliament of Malaysia and raise their awareness of the working of government. Three sessions are held each year, each involving 133 elected members.

There have been 309 ethnic Chinese in the Dewan Rakyat since the establishment of the Parliament of Malaysia. As of 2018, there are 48 representatives, or 21.62% of the body.

There have been 65 ethnic Indians in the Dewan Rakyat since the establishment of the Parliament of Malaysia. As of 2018, there are 15 representatives, or 6.75% of the body.
