Monowar Hossain Dipjol (Bengali : মনোয়ার হোসেন ডিপজল; born 6 April 1962) [1] known by his stage name as Dipjol, is a Bangladeshi actor, [4] [5] businessman, [6] [7] and politician. [8] [9] He is the current general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association. [10] [11]

Career

Dipjol is a Dhallywood film actor, [12] [13] [14] and owns Dipjol Food Industries Limited. [15] He is best known for his style of dialogue and action. He was elected ward commissioner of Dhaka [16] [17] ward number 9 in 1994. [18]

He was sentenced to jail in 2007 on an arms charge. [16] [17] He was later convicted of numerous charges, including amassing and concealing illegal wealth, and was given a 41-year term. [19] According to an investigation by a team of the Jail Directorate led by Commander M Zakaria Khan, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons Shamsul Haider Siddique was found guilty of violating 15 codes of the jail in February 2009. [20] He was found favoring convict Monowar Hossain Dipjol in prison and giving him special privilege such as allowing 200 visitors for Dipjol in 52 days. [20] He was released after securing his bail from Bangladesh High court on 1 June 2009. [21]

In September 2017, he fell ill and after being taken to hospital was diagnosed as having had a heart attack and suffering from water on the lungs. He underwent heart surgery at Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. [22] [23]

On 28 January 2022, Dipjol became a vice-president of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association after bagging 219 votes. [24] In April 2024, Dipjol was elected General secretary of this association. [25] [26]

Mou Khan is a Bangladeshi actress who started her show business career as a model. She made her screen debut in the Film Protishodher Agun (2019), co-starring Zayed Khan. She worked with Director Montazur Rahman Akbar in three films named "Omanush holo Manush, Jemon Jamai Temon Bou & Banglar Hercules with the Legendary co artist Monowar Hossain dipjol. Shamsul Haider Siddique is a former Bangladesh Army officer and former deputy inspector general of prisons of Bangladesh Jail. He was second in command of the prison system and served under brigadier general Mohammad Zakir Hassan. He served during the 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis began as a military backed caretaker government assumed power at the end of October 2006 following the end of term of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party administration during time numerous politicians, including former ministers and two former prime ministers, were jailed.

Lattu Koshai is a 2014 Bangladeshi action-drama film directed by P. A. Kajol and produced by Mohammad Dulal Miah under the banner of Dulon Kothachitro. It features superstar Shakib Khan, Ferdous, Monowar Hossain Dipjol, Munmun and Shahnoor in the lead roles. Also Nasir Khan, Ilias Kobra, Nagma, Sharmili Ahmed and Sadek Bachchu performed in supporting roles.

Thekao Mastan is a Bangladeshi action film directed and co-produced Malek Afsari with Pawan Kumar Agarwal under the banner of Panna Movies.
