Elk City is a census-designated place in Idaho County, Idaho, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 170. [2] [3]
Elk City was the site of a gold strike in 1861, as prospectors rushed south from Pierce, two years before the formation of the Idaho Territory. [4] In the 1870s, Chinese miners leased the claims but were later driven out by mistreatment. Quartz lode operations began in 1902 and dredging in 1935. [5]

Elk City is located at 45°49′37″N115°26′12″W / 45.82694°N 115.43667°W , [8] at an elevation of 4,006 feet (1,221 m) above sea level. At the eastern end of State Highway 14, it is fifty miles (80 km) east of Grangeville, the nearest city. Elk City has a post office with ZIP code 83525. [9]

McCammon is a city in Bannock County, Idaho, United States. It is part of the Pocatello, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 825 at the 2020 census. In 1892, McCammon became the junction point between the Oregon Short Line Railroad and Utah and Northern Railway, and city gained the nickname Junction City.
Crouch is a city in Boise County, Idaho, United States. The population was 162 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise City–Nampa, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2018, it has multiple commercial businesses for tourists and residents: a small grocery mart, a hardware store, three restaurants, a bar, The Starlight Mountain Theater, and a community thrift store. At that time, the construction of the Banks/Lowman road 2512A, The "Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway highway, transformed a small unpaved road unto a paved modern road between Crouch and Lowman. Now it is a fully modern paved roadway with informational and white water rafting pull outs which serves to transport tourists, rafters, commuters, and other traffic across the middle Idaho region.
Elk River is a city in the northwestern United States in Clearwater County, Idaho. The population was 125 at the 2010 census, down from 156 in 2000. Four Lakes was founded in 1879 by G.H. Morgan. The community was so named on account of there being four lakes near the original town site. It is speculated the fourth lake, is now a marsh south of Meadow Lake, which was drained by the ditch, blasted through basalt, which Minnie Creek flows through, under SR 904, south of the rodeo grounds.
