The discography of Eternal, a British female R&B and pop group, consists of four studio albums, five compilation albums, one remix album, two video albums and twenty-two singles on EMI Records. Eternal has sold over 10 million albums, [1] [2] with Always & Forever (15), Power of a Woman (25) and Before the Rain (35) ranked in the UK Official Charts Company's Top 40 biggest girl band studio albums of the last 25 years. [3]

In 1993 they released their debut single "Stay", which reached the top 5 in the United Kingdom and Australia (where it was certified Gold); it also reached the top 20 in Ireland, New Zealand and the US. In the US, "Stay", sold 220,000 copies as of December 1994. [4] The group's debut album Always & Forever produced six top 20 singles in the UK, including "So Good" which was a number one hit in Ireland. Released in November 1993, Always & Forever peaked at number 2, and made Eternal the first all-female group to sell over a million copies of an album in the UK, being certified 4× Platinum by March 1995. As of 1997, the album has sold 4 million copies worldwide. [4]

Eternal's second album Power of a Woman was released in October 1995 and certified 2× Platinum in March 1996. [5] Peaking at number 6 in the UK, the album produced four top 10 singles; including the top 5 hit, "Power of a Woman", which was Gold-certified in Australia; plus "I Am Blessed" which peaked at number 7 in the UK. As of February 1997, Power of a Woman has sold 2 million copies worldwide. [6]

Before the Rain , their third album, was released in March 1997, with first week sales exceeding 100,000 copies in the UK alone. [7] It contained the group's highest-charting singles in the UK; "Don't You Love Me" and the number-one hit "I Wanna Be the Only One" (featuring BeBe Winans), which was a top 10 hit in twelve territories. Before the Rain was certified Platinum in the UK, whilst "I Wanna Be the Only One" received Platinum certifications from the British Phonographic Industry and Norwegian branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. [8] [9] As of June 2019, "I Wanna Be the Only One" is ranked number 28 on the UK Official Charts Company's Top 100 girl band singles of the last 25 years. [10]

In October 1997, the group released Greatest Hits , which peaked at number 2 and was certified 3× Platinum in the UK. The compilation also received Platinum certifications in New Zealand and Norway. [9] [11] "Angel of Mine", released as the sole single from the compilation, was a top 5 hit in the UK and Norway (where it was certified Gold); whilst the 1999 cover by American recording artist Monica peaked at number 1 in the US. [12] Eternal released their self-titled fourth album in November 1999, peaking at number 87. "What'cha Gonna Do", the album's sole single, peaked at number 16 in the UK and appeared on the German, Swedish and Dutch singles charts.

"I Wanna Be the Only One" is a song by British R&B girl group Eternal and American R&B/gospel singer BeBe Winans, released in May 1997 by EMI and 1st Avenue as the third single from the group's third album, Before the Rain (1997). Topping the UK Singles Chart, the release also became the group's third collaboration with Winans, who had written and produced their 1994 single "Crazy" and the song "It Will Never End". The single became the group's 11th non-consecutive top-10 entry on the UK Singles Chart.

The song was released as the album's second single on 2 March 1998 by RCA and BMG. Although less successful than "Torn", "Big Mistake" still proved to be a hit in certain territories, reaching number two in Iceland and the United Kingdom, number five in Spain and number six in Australia. It was not released in the United States or Canada.

"Oh Baby I..." is a song by English girl group Eternal, written by Lotti Golden and Tommy Faragher. It was the fifth single released from their debut album, Always & Forever (1993), in October 1994 by EMI and 1st Avenue. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at number seven on October 30th, climbing to its peak of number four a week later. The single spent 10 weeks in the top 40, which up to this point was their longest chart run, and was certified Silver by the BPI on 1 January 1995 for shipments over 200,000. The song also reached the top 10 in the Netherlands and narrowly missed the top 10 in Ireland and New Zealand, charting at number 11 in both countries. The music video for "Oh Baby I..." was directed by British director and editor Tim Royes.

"Meet Her at the Love Parade" is a song recorded by German disc jockey Da Hool. It was released in August 1997 by the Kosmo label as the lead single from his second studio album, Here Comes Da Hool (1997). The song references the Love Parade, a former German electronic dance music festival and parade, and had great success in many countries, particularly in Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands, where it reached the top 10. In Iceland, the song peaked at number one. It was released in the United Kingdom in February 1998 as the Nalin & Kane remix and reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. A second remix by Fergie reached number 11 on the same chart in July 2001. British clubbing magazine Mixmag included the song on their list of "The 15 Best Mid-90s Trance Tracks" in 2018.
