Fantastica Mania 2017 was a professional wrestling tour, co-produced by the Japanese New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion and the Mexican Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion. The tour took place between January 13 and 22, 2017, with shows taking place in Osaka, Matsuyama, Kyoto, Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan. The 2017 shows were the seventh time that NJPW and CMLL co-promoted shows in Japan under the Fantastica Mania name.
With seven shows, the 2017 tour was the longest in Fantastica Mania history. The shows featured seven matches each, including two matches contested for championships owned by CMLL.
The 2017 Fantastica Mania tour was the seventh year in a row where Japanese wrestling promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promoted a series of shows in Japan alongside their Mexican partner promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). [10] The 2017 tour was shows 25 to 31, a total of seven shows.
The tour was officially announced on October 24, 2016. Originally, NJPW confirmed the locations of six shows with a seventh pending confirmation. [11] [12] The seventh show was officially announced on November 4. [13] The shows take place in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo, all of which had previously hosted Fantastica Mania events, as well as Matsuyama and Nagoya, which host their first events. [13] The three final shows in Tokyo would air live through NJPW's internet streaming site, NJPW World. [14] [15]
NJPW announced the CMLL wrestlers taking part in the tour on October 30. [16] Included were returning wrestlers Atlantis, Bárbaro Cavernario, Dragon Lee, Euforia, Hechicero, Máximo Sexy, Místico, Okumura, Stuka Jr., Titán, Último Guerrero and Volador Jr. and debuting wrestlers Blue Panther Jr., Ephesto, Raziel and Soberano Jr. Also announced for the tour was CMLL ring announcer Evan. [17] On November 21, Rush was added to the tour, three days after he had made his surprise return to NJPW as part of the 2016 World Tag League. [18]
The cards for the events were released by the two promotions on January 5, 2017, (Mexican time) and January 6 (Japanese time). [1] [2] [19] The tour would include two title matches, contested for championships owned by CMLL. On January 20, Dragon Lee would defend the CMLL World Lightweight Championship against Bárbaro Cavernario and on January 21, Máximo Sexy would defend the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship against Hechicero. Mephisto is the ring name of a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler and currently works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). His real name is not a matter of official record as he is an enmascarado, which by lucha libre traditions means that his personal life is kept secret from the general public.
Ramón Ibarra Rivera, better known by his ring name Volador Jr., is a Mexican luchador, who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He portrays a técnico wrestling character and is considered one of the top level técnicos in the promotion. He is the son of Super Parka, and his ring name refers to his father's previous gimmick, Volador. Ibarra is the nephew of the original La Parka, the cousin of El Hijo de L.A. Park and the uncle of Flyer; he is also related to a number of other luchadors in the Ibarra family.
José Christian Alvarado Ruiz is a Mexican retired Luchador or professional wrestler, better known by Máximo.
Fantastica Mania 2011 was the name of two professional wrestling major shows produced that took place on January 22 and January 23, 2011, in Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The event was the first ever co-promoted events between Japanese New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and the Mexican Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and features matches with wrestlers from both promotions and both NJPW and CMLL championships being defended.
William Arturo Muñoz González is a Mexican luchador, known under the ring name Rush. He is currently signed to AEW. He is best known for his time performing for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) as well as the U.S. based Ring of Honor (ROH). Muñoz's father, Arturo Muñoz, is also a professional wrestler, most recently known under the ring name La Bestia del Ring. William's younger brothers are also professional wrestlers, using the ring names Dralístico and Dragon Lee. While most luchadors portray clear heroes or villains in the ring, Rush portrays a character that straddles that divide; his in-ring actions are often chaotic or brawling, with tendencies to cheat, but he is still popular with fans.

Los Ingobernables is a lucha libre stable based in the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion. It was formed in April 2014 by La Máscara, Rush and La Sombra, and has since become renowned as one of the top antagonistic groups in CMLL history. As members of the group, La Máscara has held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship and the CMLL World Tag Team Championship alongside Rush, while La Sombra has held the NWA World Historic Middleweight and Welterweight Championships. Through CMLL's working relationship with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Tetsuya Naito joined the stable in 2015, eventually forming an offshoot group named Los Ingobernables de Japón in the Japanese promotion.

Javier Márquez Gómez, better known by his ring name Dulce Gardenia, is a Mexican luchador. He is currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), as a técnico wrestling character. As Gardenia, Márquez portrays an exótico character, who is presented as effeminate and homosexual in the ring. His ring name is in part an homage to Dizzy Gardenia, who was one of the earliest exótico wrestlers in the 1940s.
Fantastica Mania 2020 was a professional wrestling show tour, scripted and co-produced by the Japanese New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion and the Mexican Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) promotion.
