"Go Round" (released with "Yeah-Oh" as "Go Round/Yeah-Oh") is a song by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro from her tenth studio album Uncontrolled (2012). It was released as a double a-side single with another album track "Yeah-Oh" and was served as the fourth single on March 21, 2012 by Avex Trax. "Go Round" was written by Aili, produced by T-Sk and co-composed by Tesung Kim and Australian duo Nervo. With a cover sleeve, photographed by Takaki Kumada, showing Amuro in front of a blurry window pane, "Go Round" was recorded both in English and Japanese language and is a dance-pop song.
"Go Round" received mixed reviews from music critics, many of whom highlighted it from the Uncontrolled album and commended the composition while some felt the production and lyrics were generic and regressive. Charting in conjunction with "Yeah-Oh", the double a-side reached number four on the Japanese Oricon Singles Chart and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). Both songs charted on the Japan Hot 100 and the Taiwanese Singles Chart respectively, and were both certified gold for digital sales. For promotion, an accompanying music video was shot for the single and has been performed on two concert tours by Amuro.
"Go Round" was written by Aili, produced by T-Sk and co-composed by Tesung Kim and Australian duo Nervo. [1] The song was recorded in early-2012 at Avex Studios in Tokyo, Japan by Ryosuke Kataoka. [1] Both "Go Round" and "Yeah-Oh" are Amuro's first collaborations with Nervo, who later went on to compose "Hot Girls", "Love Story" and "Let's Go" from the album Uncontrolled (2012). [1] Amuro recorded an English version of the track that featured on the parent album and was written by Nervo, while the Bilingual version was used as the single version. "Go Round" was released as a double-aside with another album track "Yeah-Oh" on March 21, 2012 in CD, DVD and digital format by Avex Trax, as the fourth and final single for the singer's tenth studio album Uncontrolled. [4] The cover sleeve features two shots of Amuro in front of a blurry window pane; the first for "Go Round" with her wearing a white dress, and the second being for "Yeah-Oh" with a black skirt and white sleeve T-shirt on. "Go Round" received mixed reviews from most music critics. Tetsuo Hiraga was positive towards the track, commending the "thick violent beat" and her softer vocals. He later labelled the track "cool and sweet". [2] As a double a-side single, he concluded that her vocals and sound were "monumental". [2] David Cirone from J-Generation commended the composition, but criticized the English versions by explaining, "The album’s one disappointing move is the re-recording (re-English-ing) of the double-A-single 'Go Round/Yeah-Oh'. Both songs contained a beautiful blend of English/Japanese in their original release a few months prior, but on the 'album version' they’ve gone full-English, and it’s a step backwards. Amuro’s delivery is solid enough to keep it together, but the re-worked lyrics bring the song down to junior-high level." [6]
Toz from Selective Hearing was mixed in his review, stating "Go Round" is the song with the lesser amount of electro-pop. While it’s not my favourite Namie song, she sounds much more comfortable on this electro-pop bed than previously heard. But, it does sound a bit too lackluster, which could lose a few people." [7] However, Michael McCarthy was critical towards the lyrics and composition, labelling them "bland" and found the composition "random dance pop" and not "impressive". [8]
Charting in conjunction with "Yeah-Oh", "Go Round/Yeah-Oh" entered and peaked at number four on the Japanese Oricon Singles Chart, her lowest charting single since 2005 single "White Light/Violet Sauce" at seven. [9] The a-side single stayed in the charts for nine weeks, becoming her shortest spanning single in the charts since her 2007 single "Funky Town" with seven weeks. [9] The single sold over 65,000 units in Japan, becoming her lowest selling single since "Funky Town" but were both surpassed by her 2012 single "Big Boys Cry/Beautiful" with 32,000 units sold in Japan. [10] [upper-alpha 1] "Go Round/Yeah-Oh" was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipments of 100,000 units in Japan. [11] Both "Go Round" and "Yeah-Oh" charted individually on the Japan Hot 100 chart at two and thirty-four respectively; "Go Round" was certified gold by the RIAJ for digital sales of 100,000 units. Shigeaki Kubo directed the accompanying music video, which featured Amuro in a black and white tuxedo and in a white dress, inside of a diary locket and a cubic maze. [14] The music video was included on the DVD version of both the A-side format and Uncontrolled. Namie Amuro is a retired Japanese singer. She rose to prominence as a teen idol, and transitioned into a leading pop artist due to her versatility across music styles and visual presentation. Due to her career reinventions and longevity, she is known as an icon across Japan and Asia. She has been referred to as the "Queen of Japanese Pop", and her influence domestically has drawn equivalent comparisons to artists such as Janet Jackson and Madonna in Western pop culture.
Queen of Hip-Pop is the seventh studio album by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro. It was released on July 13, 2005, by Avex Trax. The album's lyrical content, composing and arrangement was handled by multiple music collaborators, such as Nao'ymt, SUGI-V, Michico, Tricky Stewart, T.Kura, among many others. It is her second full length urban contemporary record, and is made up of songs of various musical genres. Amuro uses the term "hip-pop" to describe the music on the album because it fuses pop music with other genres including R&B and hip-hop music. Three different formats were released to promote the album: a standalone CD, a limited edition Playbutton, and digital download.
Love Enhanced Single Collection is the second greatest hits album by Japanese singer Namie Amuro. It was released on March 13, 2002, through Avex Trax. This was Amuro's first greatest hits album in about four years, since 181920. It was also her first greatest hits album since her return to the music scene. Although the album is labeled as a "singles collection," nearly all of the songs on the album have been re-recorded, re-mixed, or re-arranged, all of which remain exclusive to this album's release. "White Light" is a song by Japanese singer Namie Amuro. It was released by Avex Trax in Japan on November 16, 2005, as a double A-single with "Violet Sauce". "White Light" was supposed to promote Amuro's eighth studio album Play (2007), but it was scrapped from the final track list. Instead, an alternative version of "Violet Sauce" appeared. A demo version of the song was sent to Amuro, who decided it needed a warmer tone and reworked it as a Christmas song. It was modified by Nao'ymt, the song's sole composer, producer, and writer. Musically, it's a midtempo Christmas song with lyrics about love and holiday festivities.
"Girl Talk" is a song by Japanese singer Namie Amuro. Avex Trax released it on digital and physical formats on October 14, 2004, and it is the third single from Amuro's seventh studio album, Queen of Hip-Pop (2005). It was also released as a double A-side with "The Speed Star", though the latter did not appear on the parent album. "Girl Talk" was written and produced by T.Kura and Michico, and is a dance song with R&B and pop influences that, like its parent album, transitions from Amuro's original dance sound to a more mature yet transatlantic sound.
"Shine More" is the 23rd single by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro. It was released on March 5, 2003, by Avex Trax and serves as the second single from her sixth studio album Style (2003). It was originally written by Scott Nickoley, Sandra Pires and Paul Taylor, while the lyrics were translated into Japanese by H.U.B. Amuro called "shine more" the first part of a dance number trilogy including "Put 'Em Up" and "So Crazy." “I think with these three songs I met my destiny,” she said.
"Say the word" is the 18th single by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro, and her 7th vinyl record. The CD single was released on August 8, 2001, by Avex Trax. The vinyl edition was released on September 12, 2001, by Rhythm Republic. "Say the word" was used as the commercial song for KOSÉ Cosmetics Luminous line of lipstick. This is Amuro's first single since severing ties with her former long-time producer Tetsuya Komuro. The song is not found on any of her studio records, but was later placed on her second best album LOVE ENHANCED♥ single collection, which was released five months later. It was produced by Swedish producers Ronald Malmberg and Thomas Johansson who are best known for their work with Swedish pop group A-Teens.
"Sweet 19 Blues" is the seventh single by Japanese recording artist Namie Amuro. It was composed, written and arranged by Tetsuya Komuro for her debut album of the same name. A month after its release, her label Avex Trax released the song as a recut single due to overwhelming demand. The song's subject and the album in general was about the melancholic passing of another sweet year of youth, which is a particularly Japanese obsession.
"You're My Sunshine" is the sixth single by Japanese singer Namie Amuro. It was released on June 5, 1996, by Avex Trax and was produced by Tetsuya Komuro. The song was the image song for the Bristol-Myers Squibb "Sea Breeze '96" commercial in which she appeared. Musically, "Dr." is a dance number that is influenced by modern club music, and also samples an orchestral section from the musical piece "Boléro", composed by French conductor Maurice Ravel. Lyrically, it is a love song that uses the titular term to metaphorically describe Amuro's lover.
