Gomoa-Awutu-Effutu-Senya District is a former district council that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as a district council in 1975. However, on 1988, it was split off into two new district assemblies: Awutu/Effutu/Senya District (capital: Winneba) and Gomoa District (capital: Apam). The district council was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Winneba as its capital town.

Their mighty Guan culture have had influence on neighbouring Akan cultures.Akans,especially the borbor Mfantsefo had adopted their names and some cultural elements and fused it with theirs through integration to produce modern cultures which is shared by both the Guan people of Winneba and their Akan neighbours.However,Efutu just like other Guans states have a patrilineal system of succession. The Simpa Kingdom was formed about 1400 AD.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the former Gomoa-Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Council. However on 29 February 2008, it was split off into two new districts: Effutu Municipal District and Awutu Senya District. The district assembly was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Winneba as its capital town.

Harona Esseku was a Ghanaian politician who served as Ghana's Minister for Transport and Communications from 1969 to 1971. He was approved as a cabinet minister at an age of thirty-five making him the youngest cabinet member of the Second Republic. King Ghartey IV was the king of Winneba, enstooled in 1872. He became king after the death of King Henry Acqual, alias Kwesi Eguasi. He was the first President of the Fante confederation. He was a politician, author, entrepreneur, statesman, innovator and philanthropist. He was a leading figure in the business transactions which flowed from the Gold Coast to Britain to France. He was succeeded by King Kodwo Abeka.

The Gomoa Onyaadze Solar Power Station is an operational grid-connected 20 megawatts (27,000 hp) solar power plant, in Ghana. The privately owned power station sells its power to the Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDSG), formerly Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), under a long-term power purchase agreement.
