Hubli, officially known as Hubballi, is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka. The twin cities Hubli–Dharwad form the second largest city in the state by size and population and the largest city in North Karnataka. Hubli is in Dharwad district of Karnataka and is the taluk headquarters of Hubli City and Hubli Rural. Although it hosts the HDMC office, the district headquarters is in Dharwad.
Davanagere is a town in the centre of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is the seventh largest town in the state(major town), and the administrative headquarters of eponymous Davangere district. Hitherto being a cotton hub and hence popularly known before as the Manchester of Karnataka, the commercial ventures of the city is now dominated by education and agro-processing industries. The 12649 / 12650 Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express of Karnataka is a train service of Sampark Kranti Express series in India, which runs between Yesvantpur in Bangalore to Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi. In addition another Karnataka Sampark Kranti started which runs between Chandigarh and Yeshvantapur. It provides a substitute to the Karnataka Express and also of superfast category. The frequency of these trains in compilation of all the Sampark Kranti is daily. These trains provide an alternative link between Bangalore City railway station and New Delhi stations.
Siddaganga Intercity Express, formerly Intercity Excpress is a daily express train that runs between Dharwad and Bengaluru in Karnataka, India and it replaced Bangalore City - Hubli (Hubballi) Shatabdi Express. and until 2009, this train ran from Hubballi to Bengaluru. It was extended to Dharwad on 8 December 2009. It takes 8 hours 50 minutes to cover 490 kilometres (300 mi). It has 17 stops and 65 intermediate Stations. It is numbered as 12725/12726. The train belongs to Mysuru Division of South Western Railway.

The platform number 1 of Hubli Junction has a length of 1,505 metres, making it the longest railway platform in the world as of March 2021.

The Bangalore–Arsikere–Hubli line is a major railway line in the Indian state of Karnataka connecting state capital Bangalore with city of Hubli in north-central Karnataka. It traverses across Karnataka and links several cities of Karnataka, including Tumakuru, Kadur JnDavanagere, Haveri and Hubballi. Currently, 29 pairs of trains operate in this route, out of which 8 are daily services. Apart from this, this route also links Karnataka with other states, such as Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. This route is also a major feeder line for iron ore, coal and steel hauling freight trains originating from Ballari district towards the Mangaluru port.
