Hendrix is an unincorporated community in McLean County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. [1]
A post office called Hendrix was established in 1876, and remained in operation until 1910. [2] The community has the name of John Hendrix, a pioneer settler. [3]

Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. Forgottonia, also spelled Forgotonia, is the name given to a 16-county region in Western Illinois in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This geographic region forms the distinctive western bulge of Illinois that is roughly equivalent to "The Tract", the Illinois portion of the Military Tract of 1812, along and west of the Fourth Principal Meridian.
