As of the census [4] of 2000, there were 1,737 people, 682 households, and 553 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,081.8 inhabitants per square mile (417.7/km2). There were 692 housing units at an average density of 431.0 per square mile (166.4/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.62% White, 0.23% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.23% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.46% of the population.
There were 682 households, out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% were married couples living together, 6.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.9% were non-families. 16.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
